  1. Both Bowers and JPJ are perceived to have the coveted high floor / high ceiling combination. JPJ just happened to be at a position of need, while Bowers was not. For many in this forum (myself included), this is how we have wanted Raider drafts to be since forever. I am personally tired of reaches and project players being drafted in the higher rounds. Give us some guys who can come in and play right away at a good level. The high floor perception generally comes from a player being good at the nuances of the position they play (pro ready). Bowers was rated very highly due to the many things he is good at (pro ready) and the good physical tools that generally translate to the high ceiling. When players have both high floor and high ceiling, the bust factor is usually minimal. Obviously, any player can bust. There are no sure things. But the odds of Bowers succeeding is greater than his bust factor.
  2. Same. I think the FO reached on only one player. I am not used to that.
  3. Chargers did it again..... Herbert will make good use of him.
  4. This is the longest the Raiders have taken to make a pick this draft. Somebody must have taken a player that they wanted.
  5. History shows that it's not good to do that. In 1994 WAS drafted Heath Shuler in the 1st round and Gus Ferrotte in the 7th. In 2012 WAS drafted RG3 in the 1st and Kirk Cousins in the 4th. In both cases, the lower drafted QB ended up being the better QB. It's almost a curse..... I do think Maye will be the better QB when all is said and done. But it's not good.
  6. I didn't mention them earlier because they always seem to have good drafts.
  7. WAS, LAC, & GB are quietly having very good drafts IMO.
  8. I like the draft so far. Bowers and JPJ are going to be studs. Glaze kinda reminds me of Elumenor. Versatile guy who is a good pure blocker. He should be solid at worst. Richardson is a HWS guy that Al Davis would have loved. Eichenberg is a tough physical LB that loves the game.
  9. This is one of the reasons why I favor pure passers and gunslingers over dual threat QBs. BTW, I liked Fields more than Daniels as a prospect, because he didn't run as much in college. But Fields didn't pick up the pro game as quickly as I hoped.
  10. I once made the comparison of Daniels to Kenny Pickett. Both played 5 years on college and both took 5 years to break out. In retrospect, and to be fair to both those QBs, we don't know all the circumstances that led to that. All we know as fans are the player's stats and whatever stories get told to us. Now with that said, Daniels' tendency to take extra sacks and inaccuracy when moved off his spot is concerning. Once NFL defenses get tape on him, he is going to struggle until he overcomes those things. Hopefully he does.
  11. After looking at some of the non-QB mocks, I am open to the idea of not drafting a QB this year. Yes, it is risky but we could stack the roster with this draft (especially OL). Then, next year, we could trade the house for a QB (assuming one of them would be worth it). For the record, I am still in the camp of drafting a QB this year. Just leaving options open.
  12. Guys... Seattle is where his pro day was held. That post doesn't mention the Seahawks. Not to say that the Seahawks wouldn't be interested.
  13. It wouldn't shock me if the Giants traded back a few spots and took Penix. The Vikings are doing their due diligence. They didn't trade for an extra 1st round pick to trade up for Penix. The Falcons are doing their due diligence as well. There is no way that the Commanders take Penix at #2. And they won't trade out of #2 unless someone trades the house. The Broncos would be interesting, but I would hate it as a division rival. The Raiders are doing their due diligence too. I honestly think AP wants Daniels. Penix might be a plan B.
