This thread was born out of the discussion we were having about Quinn and his investments/lack of investments in particular areas. Just out of personal interest, I did some comparisons using Spotrac.

- Averaged Lions 2017, 2018 and 2019 years

- Compared Lions average vs average of KC, DAL, NE and SEA in 2019. This was a good mix of successful teams with some veteran QB's, younger QB's, etc.

LIONS    PLAYERS    SALARY CAP    CAP %
Quarterback    3    $25,373,372.33    13.84%
Running Back    5    $5,467,561.67    3.06%
Wide Receiver    7    $15,128,203.00    8.40%
Tight End    4    $5,729,430.33    3.15%

Special Teams    0    $3,403,186.58    2.11%

What is interesting here is:

- Lions have financially not made significant investments in the OL compared to those other groups in this time span.

- Lions have taken the same approach to Linebacker as the OL

For both position groups they're either relying on rookie players and/or cheap veterans. It's ok if this works and I don't know if the rotation was a terrible thing last year. Linebacker was a cluster**** and it will be interesting to see if the addition of Collins helps to correct this

- Lions have spent a considerable less amount of money at wide receiver and have been fairly successful with a healthy Matthew Stafford. KG will eventually get paid but Lions have been successful while spending fewer dollars at the position compared to these four counterparts
