patriotsheatyan
I feel like in the league ever since the 2011 agreement teams seem like they have been worse at tackling, blocking, containing QBs, judging ball trajectory, staying in their lanes, and so on. Mostly fundamentals. Am I just an old man complaining, or is this a thing now?
Jakuvious
Nah. Crap teams have always been crap in this regard. It seems better in retrospect because the great teams/players/games/plays are more memorable than the slop. It's easier to remember how great the Steel Curtain was, but nobody is really thinking about the 1970s Saints when they're talking about old school football. I can say confidently, the early 2000s Chiefs were just as terrible at defensive fundamentals as any team is right now. I remember that vividly. Though, teams are dramatically better at passing the ball than they ever have been, so that does contribute to this perception, for sure.
