pf9
Currently, both division winners are the teams that get the byes. This can pose a problem if one of the division winners didn't do as well as some of the Wild Card teams in the other division. This proved to be the case in 2017, where Toronto won the East with a 9-9 record and had a bye while 3 wild card teams from the West had to play in the first round. Toronto ultimately won the Grey Cup. The CFL should start seeding its playoff teams 1-6 based solely on record, with the crossover rule still in effect, and division winners still guaranteed berths in the playoffs. Tiebreakers would be used as necessary. Had this been done last year, the seeds would have been: 1. Calgary 2. Winnipeg 3. Edmonton 4. Saskatchewan 5. Toronto 6. Ottawa Winnipeg might have had a better chance of ending its Grey Cup drought that way. Teams would be re-seeded after the first round.
tom cody
Not sure there are many CFL fans here but I am one, I think you'll see some sort of playoff realignment when expansion happens. Maybe top 4 teams in each division make the playoffs.
