  1. He went the next pick, so the Commanders were obviously comfortable with his medicals. Time will tell if Ruke was the right pick, I’m certainly willing to have an open mind. Thing is, Terry has a ton of instances where he drafted probably the wrong player in the early rounds of the draft. Pitts over Chase, trading down for Grant over selecting Holland, Mayfield over Meinerz, London over Wilson, Andersen over Harris, Harrison over Diaby & Young, Bijan over Carter (hurts to say that because I absolutely love Bijan). Terry doesn’t have the scapegoat of Smith being here anymore, he’s gotta start hitting some home runs on these early picks instead of doubles, singles, and strikeouts. Ruke over Newton is one of those picks that we can easily keep track of to see if even the common fan would have gotten that pick right over Terry
  2. This is a make or break draft for Fontentot. My eye is specifically on the decision to draft Ruke over Newton. Going to be following that one VERY closely this year. Aside from that however, I like the draft. Hated the Penix pick at first, grew to like it. Liked the Trice and Dorlus picks but I'm not realistically expecting much out of them.
  3. I would hate Bo Nix at 8. Outside of the top 3 (Williams, Daniels, Maye), the only QB I would be cool with at 8 is McCarthy (if the staff fell in love with him). Verse, Laitu, Turner, Odunze, Nabers, Arnold, and Mitchell would be my preferences at 8
  4. Kirk is a pretty good QB, he should do well here. Am I happy about paying him 45M per year? No, definitely not. I would much rather have either Russell Wilson or Fields at their price tag along with Danielle Hunter to solidify our pass rush, then take a corner or receiver at 8. But I ain’t the GM, the head coach, or the OC. They all got together and decided that Kirk gave us the best chance to win games this season, so we just have to go with that honestly. He’s not a long-term solution, but his deal is structured in a way where we should be able to cut him after year 2 if we absolutely have to. The goal should be to go as far as Kirko can possibly take us and continue to build the roster for the next young QB to have success here when the time does come.
  5. Rondale Moore to the Falcons for Desmond Ridder All of a sudden, our receiving corps is looking pretty nice. Unloaded a garbage QB and got a receiver with legit 4.3 speed and high upside.
  6. The dropped Hail Mary and dropped game winning TD vs the Commanders leave a bad taste in my mouth. Still, there’s definitely reason for optimism. He was really good his first two years under Nagy. But neither him or Fields could find their stride under Getsy. Mooney should be a useful contributor in this offense, Kirk seems to be a good fit at QB for him.
  7. Looks like we’re the overwhelming favorite to be Kirk’s next team. Like I said before, I hope we know what we’re doing here. It’s a ton of money to pay to be no closer to our long term solution at the position.
  8. Yeah I can’t see him taking less than Daniel Jones and Baker tbh. 30-32 is reasonable for him, but it seems to just be far from reality given Kirk’s past. There’s just a ton of journeymen like Darnold, Wentz, Brissett, Minshew, or maybe Tanney that I’d rather bring in to compete with Ridder (or perhaps McCarthy) for like 5-7M. Put the savings into FA and let the chips fall where they may lol.
  9. Me personally, not much lol. Like 25m. Obviously that would never happen, but it seems like he’s Zac Robinson’s man for this season. Sure hope he’s right.
  10. Everyone has us trading for Fields, but it all could be smoke and mirrors. I’d be ecstatic with all of these options (in no order): Trade for Fields Trade up for Williams or Daniels Trade back for McCarthy Sign a vet to start, cut Ridder, draft Maye
  11. https://x.com/atlantafalcons/status/1752124168987082818?s=46&t=UxCU9DzsVKSdMaBbShbbdg I like this hire. What’s the general consensus on Lake?
  12. Kirk would be a good fit here, but I don’t want to pay him anything close to what I think he’d ask for (45 per season). I’d rather swing for the fences and potentially miss than pay him that kinda money. Hell, I’d probably rather see if Robinson could turn Ridder or preferably Darnold into a game manager for cheap than see us waste 45m on Cousins.
  13. And we kept Ledford, which is amazing considering the O line was the best part of our offense last year. Round it out with a good DC hire (hoping for Evero or Staley) and I will be a super happy camper. Cousins would probably be a good fit in Robinsons scheme, but I saw someone on Twitter say that he’s expected to command a 2 year 90 mill deal. 100% no thank you
  14. I think the general consensus is this: From a leadership standpoint, coach Rah is in the S Tier. We’ll have a great culture and everyone will want to play their heart out for this man. He could be the tipping point in free agents choosing us over other destinations offering similar financial incentive. From a scheme standpoint, while he has been cross-pollinated with an extraordinary number of amazing coaches/players on both sides of the ball during his time in the league, he’s never shown anything overly impressive. Coordinators are going to be huge for Rah. I can see things going south very quickly if he tries to get too cute with the coordinators. Guys that we have been interviewing like Hankton for OC & Durde for DC… that’s a massive risk. Not saying it wouldn’t work out because I have no idea how they would perform in those roles. But to me, it just makes a lot more sense to get guys that are proven in their roles at the NFL level. Overall, this shouldn’t be difficult. If we had a halfway decent QB last year and Jarrett didn’t get hurt, I believe we would be getting ready to play this Sunday. Don’t believe me, look at our 2 games against the Bucs and our game against the Lions. Outplayed the Bucs twice and the Lions game was the 7th career start of the worst starting QB in the NFL, but we largely held their offense in check.
  15. Schefty reporting that we decided on Morris. Kinda embarrassing for Blank, given that he was our HC in 2020 lol. I’m not impressed, but I will most definitely reserve judgement for when coordinators are hired. I’m certainly a fan of his leadership qualities. Looks like an early favorite for OC is Zac Robinson. I’m so old that I remember watching him play at OK State! I’d be a fan of that hire for sure
