What's sad is that a player went low to specifically avoid the leading with the helmet penalty and he still got called for it.  Stupid rule is stupid.

People keep saying this, but i don't get it.  Keep your head up and drive through the tackle and it really doesn't matter whether you tackle high or low.

Obviously the head/neck/spine injury aspect is the main component of this rule.  But this whole "diving blindly at the knees" style of "tackling" that so many NFL DBs have adopted lately, also has to be at least a peripheral part of it.  They're not so much "tackling" as trying to chop block guys down - head first.  That's not new to this rule being implemented, it's something DBs have been doing all over the place for years before that, trying to cope with manbeast WRs and these "matchup nightmare TEs" who completely outmatch them physically, along with teams getting more and more RBs on the perimeter more often.

I have no idea how they're actually going to employ this new rule consistently, but it's not like "tackling low" is somehow going to make up for leading with the head.  That's not how the rule works, and that's not how tackling works.
