It turns out their target was veteran Brett Maher, who was himself jettisoned by Denver after their acquisition of Wil Lutz. Maher is known mostly for his time in Dallas (whom he kicked for last season, and from 2018-2019) but has also spent time kicking with the Saints. He had a 90.6% field goal percentage last season.
