Other cities lost their teams for far less and in far less time. Much like the pre-1995 Seattle Mariners, the Coyotes only true achievement is being allowed to continue even existing. Bettmen was hellbent on hockey in the desert southwest working until Vegas got a team. It was successful right away because Jerry Colangelo let them play in the Suns arena temporarily but once the Scottsdale site fell through they had to go to the west side (death side). It works for the Cards b/c it’s only 8 games a year. The idea made sense because by the time they moved Phoenix was the fastest growing city in the US and the market only had two pro sports teams. But after the first few years it was calamity of nonsense; different owners, bankruptcies, politics, lawsuits, broken leases, poor attendance and most importantly losing. The NHL should’ve let them move to Seattle or Portland a long time ago.

They wouldn't even need to change the name since there's plenty of coyotes in Texas
Football_Bachelor08
Just saw an article that the Smith's will renovate the Delta Center's seating bowl to make it ideal for hockey sightlines. This comes as a surprise. The Delta Center is now over 30 years old. I guess they aren't planning to build a new arena since there'd be no point in renovating a place you're only going to be in for a few more years.
