I'm not gonna bother continuing with this pointless argument, the NFL isn't cutting 1/3 of it's roster spots simple as that.

So, they are going to carry at least 13 guys who jobs depend on playing special teams and pay them around 35 million a year to sit and do nothing, if you believe that, I have a couple of bridges for sale here in Canada just for you???

Lol, this is comedic in its stupidity.

There are NOT 13 guys whose jobs depend on the kickoff. Anyone that thinks that has clearly never watched an NFL game. You might want to try it, they are on 3 days a week every fall.

But just to kick you while you are down:

  • Bare minimum players used on offense by every NFL team every game:
  • 1 QB
  • 4 WR
  • 3 RB
  • 2 TE
  • 5 OL
  • 15 Players
  • Bare minimum players used on defense by every NFL team every game:
  • 7 DL
  • 4 LB
  • 7 DB
  • 18 players
  • Bare minimum players used for special teams by every NFL team every game (even with no kick off)
  • 1 K
  • 1 P
  • 1 LS
  • 3 players
  • Total bare minimum players needed to play in every NFL game before injuries are considered:
  • 36

Add the possibility of injuries adds at least 1 more player at each position on offense and defense which is 9 more players equaling 45 players.

Bare minimum NFL teams are gonna carry 45 players for each game with or without kickoffs.  Even if some jobs were eliminated (they won't be) they would eliminate 20-25, that is just absurd. There are not 13 players who depend on kickoffs for jobs, that is an incredibly uninformed statement bordering on complete and utter ignorance of the NFL and the game of football in general.

Further evidence: The AAF plans to have no kickoffs yet their roster size will be 50 players.

Try watching the sport you are commenting on sometime.

Not only that but the CBA requires teams to spend a certain amount of money so even if they did eliminate jobs it wouldn't save the owners a penny, the players left over would simply make more money.

Football has always faced challenges in terms of Safety, but the current stuff is pretty mild compared to a century ago

How Teddy Roosevelt saved Football

https://www.history.com/news/how-teddy-roosevelt-saved-football

"In what the Chicago Tribune referred to as a “death harvest,” the 1905 football season resulted in 19 player deaths and 137 serious injuries. A Cincinnati Commercial Tribune cartoon depicted the Grim Reaper on a goalpost surveying a twisted mass of fallen players.

An intercollegiate conference, which would become the forerunner of the NCAA, approved radical rule changes for the 1906 season. They legalized the forward pass, abolished the dangerous mass formations, created a neutral zone between offense and defense and doubled the first-down distance to 10 yards, to be gained in three downs "
