In just one season, Matt Nagy has established himself as one of football’s most creative play-callers.

From “Freezer Left” to “Santa’s Sleigh” to “Oompa Loompa” to “Lollipop,” Nagy has followed his own advice of “Be You,” while giving fans, and players, something to look forward to.

While Nagy surely has new trick plays under his sleeve for the 2019 season, there is one that he recently alluded to.

“It’s going to be called ‘***-Kickin’ Chicken’ for the Blue Hens,” Nagy said during an interview on NFL Network. “We’re gonna rock and roll with that thing, so we’re going to get a little creative with that. I can’t tell anybody — I won’t tell anybody — up until we get to that game. Who knows what game it’s going to show up.”

Nagy’s latest trick play will honor his alma mater, the University of Delaware. And if the name “***-Kickin’ Chicken” isn’t enough to get you excited, the anticipation for exactly what this play turns out to be surely will.

Nagy’s creativity utilized offensive linemen as receiving targets, and he even turned to the defense for some assistance.

Nagy would interrupt a defensive meeting to pull players out that he wanted to use for a given trick play.

It came to a point where the players were waiting for Nagy’s arrival and wondering who would get their number called.

Nagy’s trick play arsenal infused excitement into an offense that had been mediocre for years. And knowing Nagy, he’s got plenty more tricks planned this season.
