Two Chris Wyles tries in his last game before retirement and scores from Billy Vunipola and Nathan Earle won it for them after a sluggish start. Gareth Steenson scored Chiefs' only try as Sarries survived losing Schalk Brits to the sin-bin in the closing quarter. In a repeat of the 2016 showpiece, Saracens took the trophy in their fourth final in the past five years. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2017/18 - Guinness Pro14 - Final Result / Match Report / Highlights: *** ** * (Result) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Match Report) Pro14 final: Leinster 40-32 Scarlets https://www.bbc.com/sport/rugby-union/44252575 Quote Leinster completed a historic double after adding the Pro14 title to their Champions Cup crown. It was the 31-year-old Toulon wing's first appearance against the nation for whom he won 39 caps. Ashton crossed three times within 25 minutes as the Baa-Baas outscored England by nine tries to six. It is a fourth successive loss for Edie Jones' England side, who last won on 10 February against Wales in the Six Nations. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (News) World Rugby announces 'below-the-nipple' law trial for Junior World Championship http://www.espn.com/rugby/story/_/id/23608187/world-rugby-announces-nipple-law-trial-junior-world-championship Quote World Rugby has continued its push to make the game safer, announcing a high-tackle law trial for next month's Junior World Championship in France. Citing data that says 76 percent of head injuries happen in the tackle and 72 percent of those occur to the tackler, players at the tournament will now adhere to a "below-the-nipple-line" target zone as opposed to the previous below the shoulder. The law trials have been brought in to encourage players to bend at the waist and aim for a lower hit zone, with World Rugby citing evidence a player is 4.3 times more likely to suffer an injury when attempting a tackle in an upright position. Law 9.13 reads as follows for the trial: "A player must not tackle an opponent early, late or dangerously. Dangerous tackling includes, but is not limited to, tackling or attempting to tackle an opponent above the nipple line even if the tackle starts below the nipple line." World Rugby chairman Bill Beaumont described the trial as proof of rugby's commitment to reducing its injury toll, with a specific focus on reducing the risk of concussion. Small Town Values
News: Ireland and Ulster centre Jared Payne will take up a coaching role with the province after retiring because of recurring headaches. https://www.bbc.com/sport/rugby-union/44279099 Quote Ireland and Ulster centre Jared Payne will take up a coaching role with the province after retiring because of recurring headaches. Payne, who will be Ulster's defence coach, has not played since sustaining a head injury on the British and Irish Lions tour of New Zealand in 2017. New Zealand-born Payne, 32, represented Ulster on 78 occasions and earned 20 Ireland caps. The confirmation about Payne's enforced retirement was inevitable after his recurring headaches meant he couldn't play a single minute for Ulster this season.
