Players You Like: OL

I’m lumping the OL positions all in together if you couldn’t tell from the title.

Everyone I have us taking here is more or less a project whose upside is the appeal more so than their play thus far.  We’re obviously set with our starting 5 and have guys like Harris, Hudson, Martin and Dunn for immediate needs, but we do need to look towards the future.

Anton Harrison: Young tackle with good movement skills.  Needs to improve his strength, but that’s a correctable issue.

Blake Freeland: The traits are uncommon.  6’8, 310 with a 37” vert.  That was not an error lol.  Technique is supposedly *** (I’m not watching clips of day 3 OL from BYU) but that’s why we have Callahan.

Joe Tippmann: Jumbo sized C with legit movement skills who could play any interior position at a high level.  Not sure they’d invest what it would likely take to get him unless they’re looking to move on from one of the interior guys sooner rather than later, but he’s a beast.

Andrew Vorhees: Not sure we’d get a crack at him had he not gotten injured, but he did and that could allow for him to slip. Another physical stud who’s great in the run game and could be a long term replacement for Bitonio.

Voorhees could be a steal in value for a RS type year with the injury.

I like about 3-5 C in this class, with JMS, the kid from Arkansas, Wypler, Tippmann (a touch tall for me), and honestly the kid from UM.

I like him as a guy to RS in ‘23, move to a reserve role in ‘24 and perhaps be ready to take over for Bitonio in ‘25 when he’ll be like 33 and our cap space will be getting tight.
