Michael Caine retires from acting at age 90

Michael Caine, the actor who many of you probably became aware of through Nolan's Batman trilogy, has decided to retire.

He started acting in films in the mid 1960's, often playing smooth British spies or detectives, sometimes military officers. He was skilled in comedies too, and appeared in over 60 films.

He once said (only half jokingly) that when asked to be in a new film he would open the script to the first page to see if his character was in it, and then the last page to see if he was again in it. If so, he'd take the part.

My personal highlight of Caine's career was his performance in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. It certainly wasn't a classic by most people's opinions, but I found it pretty funny...it's the movie that first brought the phrase "tips on the barby" to my lexicon.

Hopefully healthwise he's alright. He's definitely earned it though.

I know he has had many iconic roles over the years, but his Nigel Powers role killed for me... so damn funny

yes, he's fine. retiring because there are no leading roles for men in their 90's, he says. but he's also writing a book.
