It could've not would've, the only difference is there's a lot more slowed down stuff and a lot more filler with 7 episodes. They'd also have the same budget....meaning 7 episodes worth of budget gets ripped from the episodes that people complain about now.

I swear I heard the same thing when Breaking Bad was ending "they had more seasons" lol the reason they make the show is it's profitable. They're ending the show because all things must end, they had one they were working towards since season 6. I don't think you realize how much that would change the show, new showrunners means a lot of changes to GOT. Entirely new writers, directors, filming crews etc. Also that's just speculation.

HBO wanted like 10 more seasons. (hence why a prequel is coming out in 2020) D&D chose 13 episodes to better spread out the budget more than likely. I don't get the D&D hate for wrapping up a story they've put the better part of a decade doing.

It's not so much expensive as they never really figured out how to do them justice/film them right plus the GOT show never put the emphasis it should've on them (I mean people saying the sad look goodbye was Jon wharging with ghost one last time is blegh) , the money always went to the dragons because well the dragons were the show's main spectacle. Then the ice zombies/once a season special battle monster get the next best priority. The direwolves get the leftovers and the leftovers for this season were......Ghost rides off with the Dothraki, loses an ear, Gets lassied by the most compassionate person on the show.
