I hate how football has the longest offseason and I’m already looking forward to it.

Anyone else feel that Gettleman was a monumentally awful pick to run this franchise? Not picking Darnold might be the worst thing to happen to this franchise since they took Tucker Fredrickson over Sayers. With respect to his personal life because cancer sucks, the guy is too stubborn and macho to be a successful GM in 2018.

Wow let's put this in the mega over-reaction thread of 2018 lol. This team hasn't looked good (namely the offense), but it's 2 games in people! We have a completely new offensive and defensive systems to adapt to. On top of that, we were 3 and friggin 13 last year! There's only 10 playere from the final 53 in 2017. Did you think we were going to make the playoffs this year? Turn arounds like the Jags last year are extremely rare. Sounds like you have completely unrealistic expectations of the situation.

You'd think Sam Darnold is playing like Patrick Mahomes the way everyone talks about him. Meanwhile Barkley has already set a Giants record in his 2nd game and looks phenomenal, even behind a bad OL.

Barkley has set a Giants record in his second game, that is cute. Mean while Darnold has already set an NFL record in his second game.

Clearly the GM thought this was a playoff team by taking a running back with the number two pick. There is nothing worst than a team that is built to win now that can't win.

Barkley was the highest rated player on their board. That's why they took him. The Giants obviously want to win as many games as possible. They are a business and more wins equals more revenue. But Gettleman is not EXPECTED to get them to the playoffs this year. He's expected to turn things around in a positive direction. A 7-9 or even 6-10 season would be a positive building season even though ownership wouldn't say that to the media because they know it would affect ticket sales. Gettleman was met with praise by most of us for the majority of the moves he's made this off-season. Now because we don't look good after 2 games in a completely new system with basically all new players we're gonna sit here and say he's a failure and not the right guy for the job? Let's wait at least until mid season to assess the moves he's made.

After making Nate Soldier the highest paid offensive Lineman in the NFL, making Odell the highest paid Wide Out in the NFL and drafting a running back with the #2 pick in the draft, there is no way shape or form the Giants in any way can see 6-10 or 7-9 as a positive.

Yes most of you praised Gettleman for the moves he made in the off-season  Other than signing Nate Soldier I have not liked most of  his moves. And the Giants kind of lucked out with Nate Soldier seeing how Gettleman wanted to pay big time money to a Guard that decided to go with another team.

Who knows if Gettleman is the right guy for the job or not in the long run. But for this season he has done a  bad job and he has a bad team to show for it.

Again, tell me how many teams have made the playoffs the season after going 3-13 and with 43 new players. Just because he gave out a couple of big contract does not mean that we are in "win now" mode. We needed to start building our o-line somewhere and he was the best T available. They will not be the highest paid players at their positions by next off-season. We'll have another off-season to bolster our lines in FA and through the draft. Ownership will not hold it against Gettleman for missing the playoffs this year. But he WILL be expected to get this team to the playoffs next season.

We agree that time is needed to tell if DG is the right man for the job.

I have no idea the turnover but several teams have done it with in recent memory, 2006  Saints, 2008 Dolphins, 2011 Colts 2013 Chiefs.  And numerous teams have done it with a 4-12 record. Also don't make it sound like the Giants overall talent level was that of a 3-13 team, injuries to Odell and other key players help turn the Giants into that. They were 11-5 the season before.

And just because they will not be the highest paid players next year, does not mean they will not be in top three or four at their position. You don't sign an average  30 year old Tackle to  top  money when your rebuilding so I disagree with you that this is not a win now team. They are not going to fire Gettleman after one season, but Mara should be able to notice all the bad moves Gettleman has made.

Solder is already not the highest paid OL anymore.

If you had higher expectations this year than a 10-6, 9-7 record and a graceful divisional round exit, you're out of your mind. This team was not winning the Super Bowl this year. You couldn't possibly fix everything wrong with this team in one offseason. The biggest problem to me is Eli looks scared. I think the OL will come together. Fixing those assignment and communication issues comes from playing together. Flowers and Omameh will still suck, but don't expect those guys to be here next season anyway.

When DG constantly stresses getting the most out of Eli’s last few years, he probably wants to win ASAP. He’s said so himself.

I’ve thought from the start that the DG hire was Mara doubling down on his worst instincts.
