RamsFan24 Pre Combine Mock

Hey Rams Fans, here is another mock offseason where I feel that we would surely be back in the Super Bowl .

Cut-
ILB Mark Barron

I have been a huge fan of Mark over the years, but it's just time for a change. We need a real run stopper in the middle next to Littleton.

Re-sign

OG Rodger Saffold
RB Malcolm Brown
ILB Bryce Hager
S Blake Countess
ILB Cory Littleton - Second Round RFA Tender
CB Dominique Hatfield - ERFA Tender
RS Jojo Natson - ERFA Tender
DL Morgan Fox - ERFA Tender
CB Kevin Peterson - ERFA Tender
WR KhaDarel Hodge - ERFA Tender

In this scenario the Rams are able to come to an agreement on two very fair and reasonable deals for Dante and Roger. With Whitworth coming back for one more run, this gives us the same starters once again on offense. We decide to let Joyner, Suh and Shields go in order to take advantage of the  free agency opportunities.

Signing

OLB Everson Griffin

I loved this Idea by Jrry32 about Griffin being a possible cap casualty. As the Rams grab their new pass rushing specialist in Everson. Griffin is a nice pick up because Wade can move him around and he would be a great complement to Aaron Donald. Everson is an excellent run stopper on the edge, and has an explosive first step. Griffin comes in healthy from last year and motivated. As he will show people why he is still one of the best edge rushers in the game.

CB Jason Verrett

The Rams grab another very good low profile baller in Jason Verrett. Jason has had a very good career and is only 28 years old still. Before his back to back injuries he was getting a name for himself as a shut down corner. The Rams grab him a cheap prove it deal where Jason has a chance to come back and try and get back to his pre injuries form. He will come in and compete for the nickel spot just like Sam did last season. If Verrett stays healthy and gets back to his old form, then we will already have another starter on the roster will Peters and Talib options come up next year.

QB Ryan Fitzpatrick

The Rams sign Ryan to a 1 year deal to be Goff's bag up and security blanket. Ryan has had a lot of starting experience in this league, he could be a good veteran to help Goff with. Now if Blake Bortles becomes a free agent, I would love to sign him to a cheap deal while his stock is so low right now.

NFL Draft

Round 1 Pick #31   Dexter Lawrence-NT, Clemson

The Rams because of a situation are able to grab a Top 20 talent at the bottom of the first because of his late season PED Suspension. The Rams are celebrating because we grab one of the best lineman in the entire draft. The Rams run defense was really bad last year, now you can plug Dexter in at Nose and immediately he helps with that problem. Lawrence is a strong and disruptive tackle who clogs the middle who sheds blocks with ease and will get you good pressure up the middle. Dexter will truly replace Suh and will give our defensive line an extremely dangerous look. Donald and Lawrence in the middle will have head coaches having nightmares at night, lol.

Round 3 Pick #31   Deionte Thompson-FS, Alabama

The Rams run up to the podium and grab another great value pick of the draft. Thompson has been slotted as a 1st round to early 2nd rounder all year. But after 3 bad games near the end of season his stock dropped to a mid round pick. Well that works in our favor as we grab a very talented safety to replace LaMarcus Joyner. He has good speed and range, he is a hard hitter and has good vision for the feel. Wade Phillips and the DB Coach is excited to work on some of his bad techniques that he should in the second half of the year. This could be another 3rd round steal at Safety like Johnson was a couple years ago.

Round 3 Pick #35   Austin Bryant-OLB, Clemson

The Rams grab another defensive weapon for Wade Phillips in the third and the 2nd person of that great Clemson defense. Now Wade will have another pass rush specialist opposite Griffin on pass rushing downs. Austin has the intangibles to play multiple spots giving Wade another piece to his board. Bryant can learn the NFL spend behind Samson while he comes in as a rotational rush specialist. This draft is giving Wade his best young and talented group of talent. Wade is trying to create another Denver Broncos Super Bowl winning Defense.

Round 4 Pick #31   Michael Jordan-C/G, Ohio State

The Rams decide to grab a very talented offensive talent in this years draft. Now Jordan can come in and learn behind Sullivan and compete with Brian Allen for the future starting spot. Michael is a very tall and athlete lineman who is extremely talented, he is a very good run blocker and a good pass protector. Learning from the vets will serve him well along with him getting stronger.

Round 5 Pick #31   Khalil Hodge-ILB, Buffalo

Khalil will come in and immediately compete with Micah Kiser for the ILB spot that is open from Barron's release. Hodge is an absolute tackling machine who has great vision and sheds blocks really well. Khalil will come in and help bolster the run defense, as he was great against the run and solid in coverage. Hodge should be drafted a lot earlier because of his skillset, but because of his 6'1 height and level of play, he is a sleeper pick. Hodge has all the intangibles to be a really good inside linebacker in Wade Phillips defense.

Round 6 Pick #31  Easton Stick-QB, North Dakota State

The Rams take a flyer on a developmental QB late in the draft. He was a winner who made some very nice throws since Carson Wentz left. Easton has some explosive running ability and some nice intangibles in order for Sean to try and develop.

Round 7 Pick #37   Tony Pollard-RB/KR, Memphis

The more and more film that I have watched on Tony just gets me more and more excited. We grab another super talented playmaker that is only here this late in the draft possibly because of the other explosive back from Memphis. Pollard is one of the best return men in all of NCAA. He is an electric pass catcher with the ball in his hands. Tony would give McVay a very nice little rotational weapon whenever Todd needs a breather. This kid can be another nice running and pass catching weapon for us.

I'd be very happy with this, however, I don't think there is a chance in heck that Thompson lasts until the end of the 3rd.  Wasn't long ago where he was thought as a sure fire top 10 pick. I could see mid-late second, but nearly out of the top 100 I don't see.  That said, would be a heck of an offseason for us sir!

Always loved Verrett, and, if he can stay on the field, is super talented.

I've been on the Dexter Lawrence train for a month now. I think he'd be a great penetrating NT in Wade's system. His ability to move upfield makes him more than just a typical NT.

Hey man, thanks for the response, I totally agree with you. Lawrence would be perfect fit for us.

Hey Flatlyner thanks for the feedback man. Yeah I felt the same way about Thompson also. But his play dropped off so bad the second half of the season. He had 3 Ugly Games against Georgia, Oklahoma and Clemson. He where beaten bad for some deep touchdowns. Scouts have questioning his instincts and tackling ability as the Season went on. Sites like Walter Football have him ranked 8th at Safety with a 3 to 4 round rank now. So I'm hoping that in this scenario that we could take advantage of alot of ppl being down on him in order to grab him late in the 3rd. If he goes in the 2nd I wouldn't be shocked either, but every year talented ppl drop a round or 2, so I hope this is one.

He'd be a nice get in the end of the 3rd for sure.  Hope it happens.  I'm starting to love CGJ though, so we'd be missing out on him.

Yes I like me some CGJ also, for real I'm all over the place. I'm a huge Devin Bush, Dexter Lawrence, CGJ and Jeffrey Simmons fan.
