Ward4HOF
So, where am I correct?? Where am I wrong?? I thought this might spawn some discussion the week before the draft... This is coming from a highly uninformed fan, who just really started looking closer at the draft this past month... Basically, for the the 1st 4 picks, I listed 3 prospects that I thought were good for us at that pick; I then added 2 prospects I personally would like to see 'drop' to our pick, and 2 prospects, for one reason or another, that I am not overly excited about. Thoughts??? (Other than 43M telling me I'm crazy, or stupid...or both! Haha!!) RD1: ILB, DEVIN BUSH WR, DK METCALF Edge, CLELIN FERRELL HOPE DROPS?? -- Edge, MONTEZ SWEAT / ILB, DEVIN WHITE DON'T WANT?? -- CB, GREEDY WILLIAMS / CB, BYRON MURPHY RD2: S, NASIR ADDERLEY CB, TRAYVON MULLEN Edge, CHASE WINOVICH HOPE DROPS?? -- CB, ROCK YA-SIN / WR, AJ BROWN DON'T WANT?? -- TE, NOAH FANT / TE, IRV SMITH RD3A: CB, JUAN THORNHILL-- NT, DAYLON 'BIG MAC' MACK-- From 'Big Snack’ to 'Bic Mac'--haha!! Edge, D'ANDRE WALKER-- HOPE DROPS?? -- S, TAYLOR RAPP / WR, HAKEEM BUTLER DON'T WANT?? -- CB, ISAIAH JOHNSON (summed up perfectly…”He has Day 1 traits, Day 2 talent and the consistency of a Day 3 corner” / WR, Miles Boykin RD3B: Edge, Christian Miller-- Edge, Oshane Ximines-- NT, KHALEN SAUNDERS HOPE DROPS?? -- RB, DAMIEN HARRIS / TE, DAWSON KNOX DON'T WANT?? -- RB, DARRELL HENDERSON / QB, Will Grier RD4: OT, BOBBY EVANS Edge, Joe Jackson Edge, Austin Bryant TE, Drew Sample RD5: CB, TIM HARRIS TE, Kaden Smith QB, Jordan Ta'amu OT, Derwin Gray RD6 (*3): QB, BRETT RYPIEN QB, GARDNER MINSHEW Edge, Tim Ward Edge, Shareef Miller TE, Thomas Sweeney TE, Keenen Brown WR, Keelan Doss WR, David Sills V CB, David Long Edge, Bobby Okereke RD7 : QB, KYLE SHURMUR Edge, SUTTON SMITH WR, ASHTON DULIN UDFA: Edge, Jamal Davis II ILB, Deonte Roberts Edge, Quinton Bell
Chieferific
Not including your "hope they drop"s but including your "don't wants" (because most of them are good and you're an idiot for not liking them)... 1) Murphy (Been my #1 guy all along) 2) Fant (prolly should have gone Adderley but I really don't know what their strategy is at the Safety position) 3a) Boykin (to high for me but with no other options till Rd 6 I'll make do) 3b) OX (Not a great fit and would have preferred Walker in 3a but see above) 4) Evans is a great choice here. Talk about a piece of clay waiting to be molded. All "negatives" can be coached up. 5) Harris (maybe as a rotation guy he can stay healthy) 6) Doss (best of the rest of WRs on the list) 7) Smith (rotational Pass Rush specialist) *I would like to have gotten a Safety but with no options after 3a (Thornhill) it was difficult. I really didn't like any option in the 5th but Harris can play. He just can't stay on the field. Would like to have nabbed ex-Vol RB Hurd as a converted WR in the 6th over Doss (or even over Harris in the 5th and take Long in 6th) but I get you can't have a list of dozens of players per Rd cause what would be the point? Ward4HOF
Chief, Thanks for the input! I recognize that some of my ' don't wants ' wouldn't be popular...and that's okay... For instance, I don't think any of the 1st round CBs are good enough for us to spend a 1st on...too 'big' of holes in their game, as compared to the talent available in other Rds... I think there are a couple of comparable options--less talented, for sure, but more suited to their draft position. ... That said, if we trade down 6-8 slots, pick up a 3rd or 4th, THEN grabbed one of the 2 CBs, then fine... but I'm just not sold on Byron... I think he's a 'safe' player, but not an exceptional talent... I just think the options I listed would be better gambles at 20. I knew a few thoughts I had would be unpopular, though... thanks for the honest reply!
jebrick
if Clelin Ferrell is there at 20 I think he is the pick. Look at those picks and see who clicks the most boxes Team Captain Intelligent Good Character Football Junkie Ferrell checks them all.
Craigjo21
But Ferrell isn’t the best a standing up Imo No first round Secondary unless trade back Oline DL/OLB WR in the first is where we go if we stay at 20. Risner bradberry Cody ford are all good FB players

Our edge guys are rushing more and more. Plus, we already have our starting OLBs going in to next year. Ferrell will have to do nothing other than rush the passer his rookie year. He can trim up and work on his agility going into his 2nd year. Then we'll see about standing up.
Ward4HOF
So, if I were to actually select just one player from my "choices" provided, I agree the Ferrell would be the ideal pick for us...we need to stop taking solely 'upside' picks in the 1st, and get back to taking young, talent-proven prospects like Ferrell... that said, I would take Sweat ahead of him, if he drops due to his heart condition, which had been downplayed quite a bit. 1-Ferrell 2-Adderley 3a-Thornhill 3b-Saunders 4-Evans 5-Ta'amu 6a-Doss 6b-Sweeney 6c-Sills 7-Smith
