Power Rankings and MVP Race Thread (final)

Just FYI if Wilson were to win MVP he would be an anomaly. He would be the first QB since Football Outsiders has tracked stats (1993) to not finish in the top 3 of Offensive Scoring Efficiency (OSE) and win the award. His offense’s current OSE is ranked 7th in the league. Jackson’s offense on the other hand has the highest OSE since Football Outsiders stat tracking.

This is another way of me saying, I don’t think Wilson is the MVP and that currently it’s clearly Lamar Jackson.🤓

But I know you said you think he will get it, just trying to get you on board in the Lamar camp.

MVP Watch

  1. Lamar Jackson (↑ 1) Lamar finally jumps Wilson after having another phenomenal primetime performance, while Wilson was merely good in their low scoring game with the Eagles. This looks like a 2 horse race, but there is still enough time for either of them to inexplicably fall off and one of the other QB candidates to catch fire.

  1. Ravens 11-2 (--)  I think the Ravens and 49ers have established themselves over the past few weeks as a tier above the rest.
  2. 49ers 11-2 (--)
  3. Saints 10-3 (↑ 1)
  4. Chiefs 9-4 (↑ 3) Won 4 of their last 5, and currently coming off 2 impressive wins. First a blowout of Oakland, and then a win in Foxborough.
  5. Patriots 10-3 (--)
  6. Seahawks 10-3 (↓ 3
  7. Packers 10-3 (↓ 1
  8. Vikings 9-4  (↑ 1)
  9. Titans 8-5 (↑ 2)  Just dismantled one of their top WC threats, and thanks to Texans loss the AFCS crown is suddenly their trajectory. Last 4 games get them in this tier, a win over Mahomes followed by 3 blowouts.
  10. Rams 8-5  (↑ 2) Hawks don't get blown out often, and the Rams now have 2 dominant Ws in a row. Super close to breaking into next tier, but that 41 pt loss to the Ravens is still pretty fresh. Wait 1 more week to see if we can truly say the corner has been turned.
  11. Texans 8-5 (↓ 4)  Texans have become one of the hardest teams to read. Wins as good as anybody else in the AFC, but then they do stuff like get blown out by Denver.
  12. Bills 9-4 (↓ 2) "How can they be 8 spots below the 9 win Chiefs?" Simple... Wins: Cowboys, Jets, Giants, Bengals, Mariota Titans, Dolphins x2, Redskins, Broncos
  13. Steelers 8-5 (--)
  14. Bears 7-6 (↑ 4)
  15. Cowboys 6-7 (--)
  16. Eagles 6-7 (--)
  17. Browns 6-7 (↑ 2)
  18. Buccaneers 6-7 (↑ 3)
  19. Colts 6-7 (↓ 5Have lost 5 of their last 6. They usually put up a fight which is why I had been hesitant to drop them too far in hindsight, but dropping 5 of their last 6.... This drop was overdue.
  20. Broncos 5-8  (↑ 3)
  21. Chargers 5-8 (↑ 1)
  22. Raiders 6-7 (↓ 2) Raiders have become a doormat. If you combined all their points scored from their last games 3 and put into 1 week, that still would be enough to have a single win over these past 3 weeks. Outscored 116-33...
  23. Falcons 4-9  (↑ 2)
  24. Panthers 5-8 (↓ 7) Losing their HC and then getting blown out by the 3 win Falcons. This drop was a long time coming, as they've lost 5 in a row now. The tough road battles they put up in NO and GB had me thinking there was more here than there actually was.
  25. Jets 5-8 (↑ 2)
  26. Cardinals 3-9-1 (↓ 2)
  27. Lions 3-9-1 (↓ 1)
  28. Jaguars 4-9 (--)
  29. Dolphins 3-10 (--)
  30. Redskins 3-10 (--)
  31. Giants 2-11 (--)
  32. Bengals 1-12 (--)

MVP Watch

  1. Lamar Jackson (--)
  2. Russell Wilson (--)

We're cutting the fat for the MVP watch. We are 100% down to a 2 man race at this juncture. Lamar has a sizable lead and it will probably take 3 weeks of average to low level play or losing the 1 seed while Wilson secures the 1 seed and lights it up for Wilson to usurp Lamar.

Agree completely with this. Wilson can still take it, but Lamar would have to seriously disappoint for three weeks. Which week 17 he might not even play if all goes well in weeks 15 and 16. If he dominates the Jets the award I think would be locked up though.

Marcus Peters should get some love... Since he joined the Ravens we have went from a below average defense to a top 5 d and he also has 3 pick sixes and a couple game sealing pass breakups one on fourth down in buffalo.. Don’t think he’ll win but impact wise he has to be up there

I personally would give DPOY to Chandler Jones and not Gilmore.. Gilmore was victimized by Devante Parker on Sunday and it really hurt his case..
