BEAR FACE DOWN ARROW
I actually like Gabriel a lot, and think he's helped Mitch out a bunch, but it's just so logical that he could be replaced from within and save the Bears some $. Ideally I'd love Wims and Robinson outside and Miller in. I really don't know anything at all about Ridley.
dll2000
Watched most of games this weekend. The difference between the good teams and the Bears is 3rd and 2 or less is nearly a gimme putt. They can run for it. The Bears can't. Makes a big difference over course of a full game.
dll2000
Also most of good teams are using FBs about half the time. Bears need to join that trend. It would help with above. A single back set relies on QB legs and/or fear of pass. Otherwise it's large advantage defense. Running the ball is back in vogue. The best teams right now are able to consistently run it - Seahawks, Ravens, Niners.

It makes sense to be pass oriented given rules, but you have to have versatility to pick up 2 yards at will and keep drives alive and score inside the 5. Spread concept runs from single back don't work in NFL with regularity or in short yardage unless QB is a primary ball carrier as well like high school and college. Otherwise teams just play the odds a lot and don't play it honest. Baltimore can do it best because QB is a primary ball carrier AND they use FBs. They will throw on 3rd and 4 and go for it on 4th and 4 and run the ball.
