Team Trojan

DEF: 4-3 Under with multiple fronts and primarily Cover 3

OFF: ZBS single cut bowling ball physical run game. Put receiving options in space, and give Toney some Deebo-y play calls to get the ball in his hands.

Josh Allen rotates to Edge frequently, listed him as LB in the way Khalil Mack played SLB for the Raiders early in his career when he made All Pro as a LB and EDGE in the same year. This keeps Chubb and Rousseau more fresh. Martinez is a run situation MLB and if he were to enter play in a 3 LB set he'd be flanked by SLB Allen and WLB David. This would be a Seattle type 4-3 Under look.

Bryce Callahan has when healthy been a tremendous nickle, but Byron Jones, Shaq Griffin and Darious Williams fit as three good corners and pair with three safeties in STAR Minkah Fitzpatrick, long time single high standout McCourty and depth rotational safety Eric Rowe. Our DBs in addition to our DL allow multiple looks where guys like Deforest Buckner can play inside and out at 5 tech.

Offensively TLaw is supported by some of the best in the business with strong arguments at top 5 at LT, LG, C and RG. Our RT Jerry Jones was high enough on to cut La'el Collins and roll with him. Josh Jacobs and Khalil Herbert are exciting young RBs that can carry a team if need be, as can Chris Carson should his neck check out. Running behind our line with a talented young QB should be able to play playoff ball. Baker is a fine reserve QB, but ideally TLaw stays healthy obviously.

Receiving options Godwin is a stud and our chain mover who dominates in space, Njoku can attack seams and stretch the middle of defenses vertically, and the reserve TE Dan Arnold has good chemistry with TLaw. Fuller threatens the vertical game as well, whereas Toney is a unique playmaker. Bryan Edwards is a solid boundary possession type to round out a diverse group.

Team Freebird

Defense - Base 4-3, movement all over to show different coverages and blitz looks.  Have the ability to go to a dime or nickel package and still have the ability to play aggressive.

Offense - Spread package with speed down the field and a big target with Travis Kelce running across the field.  Ekeler will have a big role in the pass game and run game.  Will go with a heavy package bringing in extra TE and OL and Darrell Henderson as the back.

Team Matts

Our offense revolves around Dak Prescott. We intend to be pass heavy as a result and even utilize Prescott frequently in the running game. He possess a unique skill set and the running ability he possess makes us comfortable as our center piece. Our premier skill position weapon is Ceedee Lamb. As Prescott target in real life, Lamb has been established as a premier weapon capable of winning inside and outside. This is important because our #2 WR is Elijah Moore. We love the concept of stacking him with Lamb frequently .  They also possess dynamic YAC so slants and in routes can be as effective as crossing routes. .

Dalton Schultz will work the middle of the field. Our RBs are also quality receivers with Ezekiel Elliot serving as a premier pass protector. Kareem Hunt and Ezekiel Elliot will serve in a near 50-50 split because Hunt’s prowess as a receiver. He can serve as a viable slot WR and will frequently be a guy that lines up outside presnap and motions to the backfield to help Dak decipher zone/man coverage.  Zeke will get his touches but we consider him more of a closer and a guy that earns a marginal amount of targets in the receiving gamet. His ability will be extremely helpful in the redzone because it will also open the RPO game

Braxton Berrios and James Washington will round out our WR core. Washington is a skilled vertical route runner who most importantly opens up for the aforementioned weapons, and primarily Ceedee Lamb. Berrios  in the slot when using our traditional 11 personnel with Lamb/Moore on the outside. We are also firm advocates of moving the RB out wide and lining up with the starting WRs remaining in the slot.

Our offensive line is talented on the right side. Lane Johnson and Kelce elevate talent on the or side and will be benefited by the growing Ezra Cleveland. Landon Dickerson was a productive year one player at LG and will be aided by the dynamic Kelce getting to LBs at the 2nd level. Fisher and Moore are competing to starting at LT.. Lastly, if we are ever overwhelmed in games, the shovel tosses and slant/flat combos will heavily utilized to help Dak. The RPO game and his mobility will prove to be helpful too.

Defense

We have built our defense  that is revolved around the secondary. With long, athletic CBs on the outside, we are looking to build a defense capable of covering for more than 4 seconds to have our pass rush get to the passer. We have 3 viable CBs and our safeties are comfortable in man coverage so we will switch up coverages based on the opponent. We aren’t intent on being major shadow proponents but with dynamic WRs we will aim to play cover 3 coverages and shadow elite WRs with safety help from Chauncey Gardner Johnson. . Kearse will also be our S to LB on passing downs. This removes Patrick Queen from having heavy cover responsibility and brings Khari Willis to serve as the underneath help in our patented cover 3.

We can stop the run in our base defense. Zach Sieler and Dalvin Tomlinson control the LOS and are quality run defenders. Boogie Basham subs in for pass rush downs and plays on the edge during early downs. Trey Flowers serves a similar role. He is actually a strong pass rusher when healthy and while he is a backup player for us, on games we get into the intended high scoring games.

Patrick Queen and LVE are the early down LBs.   Fortunately, Khari Willis and Jayron Kearse are comfortable moving to the LB area on pass situations. Josh Uche is our specific LB specialist and he is strong in coverage. We will use him in that role on early downs against pass heavy teams. Queen does have a candid blitz ability so on early downs in our zone based defense, we will keep him in positions of strength. This also includes our 3 DL looks where he will serve as a spy or blitzer to deal with the Lamar Jackson lite QBs. Overall, our defense is designed to compliment our offense and keep us in games against defense that can handle our offense.

For me this came down to team trojan vs team matts.  Team Freebirds secondary is just not good at all with two slot guys as their one and two corners. I get he's trying to role with the cover three look here to help them but i don't think they have the pass rush to make up for it.  The offense is solid and I like the ideas of letting some WR go deep and let Kelce and Ekeler work underneath tough I wouldn't exactly call Marvin Jones and Tee Higgins speed receivers

Team Trojan has a really nice offensive line minus steele.  But there's not huge edge talent here in this division to expose him.   On defense I'd rather they just use Allen at edge and put Martinez at LB as Rousseau is a major liability against the run but that's nitpicky.  The secondary has good talent and they should be able to keep the opposition here down

Team matts is a wild card here.  The offense should be good with Dak Lamb, Moore etc.  I think using Hunt more than Zeke is a wise choice.  I just have too many concers about their defense keeping up.  They should be good against the run looking at their front, but they lack a major pass rusher,  In this division, I think that's the difference maker

Team Trojan for me

Matt's team is good on paper feels too much like the Cowboys to me(and we all know how the Cowboys do in crunch time). Trojan's team has a shot if Lawrence plays up to the hype around him when he was drafted. But ultimately I have to pick Freebirds team. Very good offensive big 3 in Stafford + Ekeler + Kelce, and the defense is fairly solid as well
