James Harden traded to the Clippers

Is it true that not only the Clippers not control their entire draft (1st and 2nd round) for the next 6 years BUT Kawhi, George, Harden, and Russ all could leave after this season?

If thats true the Clippers really have screwed themselves. And the crazy thing is how good would this team be if they just kept SGA and all the assets they had at the beginning? This Clippers team is so volatile right now with a ton of range of outcomes that its scary. This is Brooklyn 2.0 when they did all they could when they were moving from New Jersey to Brooklyn into their new arena and wanted to keep Deron Williams so they went and got Joe Johnson along with KD, Paul Pierce, and I forgot the other player. It was out of desperation from the then owner Prokhorov. It didnt work and it set the Nets back and it took a miracle from Sean Marks and bringing Kenny Atkinson just to get the Nets back to relevant enough to make them an attractable team again. So yeah I see this possibly being the same future for the Clippers. It might be so bad that Lue might actually want to leave if it falls apart in a year or two.

This helps the Clippers depth

The Clippers traded 2 awful rotation players and 1 bad rotation player for 1 good to great rotation player and 1 bad rotation player

They basically traded 3 dead bodies for something with a pulse. Also the Clippers have had a playmaking void for years, and Harden led the NBA in assists.

I get that we are all tired of Harden. We all know he’s a quitter. We all know he’s a choker. He’s old news. He also can play NBA basketball. Yes he’s passed his prime and we are annoyed with him, that doesn’t make him worse than 3 absolute scrubs.

The main issue with this trade is it’s put the Clippers down a path of no return. They are going to resign PG, Kawhi, and Harden and go nowhere. They fully committed and went all in with a team that can’t stay healthy.

This was a bad trade in terms of flexibility. But in terms of talent, depth, and winning basketball they gave up little and improved their team.
