david edwards / cole strange

david andrews / jake andrews

kevin zeitler / sidy sow

mike evans / odell beckham jr / demarcus robinson / demario douglas / brandon powell

kyle dugger / brenden schooler / rookie

jabrill peppers / jonathan “rudy” ford

alex austin / isaiah bolden

jonathan jones / marcus jones

money:

anderson+board+ekuale+hasty+mcdermott+ryland+marco wilson+wade+zappe+mafi+lowe+boutte+kevin harris+keshaun vaughn+trysten hill+michael jordan+bledsoe+will bradleyking cuts = save (20m$)

thornton post-june 1st cut = save (1.5m$)

peppers extension = save (2.5m$)

andrews extension+godchaux trade/cut+jc jackson cut = sign christian wilkins (25m$)

judon trade/post june 1st cut = sign hunter henry (6.7m$)

guy+phillips cut = sign anfernee jennings (5.7m$)

wise extension or trade/cut+parker+schuster post-june 1st trades = sign dugger (14.5-17.5m$)

johnson+gibson+odell beckhamjr+robinson+powell+joseph+ford sign = (25m$)

edwards+zeitler+lucas+bryant+brown+hopkins sign = ($20m$)

sign onwenu = (17m$) or after june 1st trade wise/godchaux/judon/smithschuster/parker/mac jones for ronnie stanley (11m$)

mayfield sign = (33m$) or brissett = (6m$) and prioritize QB with high draft pick

evans sign = (21m$) or just odell beckham jr = (7m$) and demarcus robinson = (4m$)

mac jones trade = save (2.5m$) or sign joe flacco or tyler huntley ($3.5m$)

~40m$ spent over the cap in 2024. so the guaranteed cash handed out this year to free agents primarily will roll heavily into 2025 front loading a lot of the deals into the first two years which is pretty typical in NFL. extension candidates in 2025 of interest really only include Christian Barmore, Ja’Whaun Bentley, Rhamondre Stevenson, and Jonathan Jones potentially after the predicted extensions handed out on existing contracts this year to Jabrill Peppers, David Andrews, Detrich Wise possibly, and possibly re-signing guys such as Kyle Dugger, Mike Onwenu, Kendrick Bourne, and Hunter Henry.

I truly have no idea what to expect. Belichick had a very particular philosophy when it came to free agency, and there's no telling whether that carries over to the new regime. My hope is that they draft Maye or Daniels and sign one of the top WRs in free agency (hopefully Higgins, but I'd settle for Evans or Pittman), and upgrade at the OT position.

the fa id sign are javon kinlaw (dt), josh reynolds & tyler boyd (wr), harrison bryant (te), jonah williams (rt/ol), michael onwenu (lg/ol), gardner minshew (qb), austin ekeler (rb), andrew van ginkel (olb), josey jewell (mlb), antonie winfield jr (db)

kraft is spending big this season. he will spend the money and move on from belichick then put mayo in charge with the same gm guy they have now. id say belichick and o’brien get traded together to the panthers.

goodbye hunter henry, kyle dugger, mike gesicki, davon godchaux, adrian phillips, jalen mills, calvin anderson, chris board, tyquan thornton, jc jackson, ezekiel elliott, josh uche, devante parker, juju smith schuster, cosy davis, myles bryant, mack wilson, ty montgomery, bailey zappe, vederian lowe, raekwon mcmillan, jalen reagor, and possibly cole strange although still doubtful on that one.

mac jones, trent brown, chad ryland, david andrews, kayshon boutte, conor mcdermott, matthew slater, jahlani tavai, and brenden schooler… eh i think they all have better shots at sticking around but i doubt all of them will be back. i think anfernee jennings would be fine to have back as depth but im sure he might look for a job elsewhere.

tier 3 fa targets: julian blackmon (s), zack moss (rb), baker mayfield (qb), juan jennings (wr), ross dwelley (te), isaiah mckenzie (wr/pr), antonio gibson (rb), k’lavon chaisson (olb), robert tonyan (te), jihad ward (de), charlie woerner (te)

entrenched vets like tyron smith (dal lt), kevin zeitler (ba rg), and michael pierce (bal nt), would be nice chase fa’s but i doubt they’d be interested in the pats this late in their careers now that brady is long gone.

standing by my thoughts from back in December but adding Tee Higgins to the tier 1 group.

Only addition I’d make is possibly Matthew Slater to the staff as a special teams and/or wide receiver assistant coach and just mention Moses Cabrera remains the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach.

Pretty much the same but I don't see the defensive scheme being the same. How could it, without the Belichick's. Yes they run the same defense however who will game plan as well as Steve.

I don't think Pittman or Higgins are going to make it to free agency tbh. Hollywood Brown may be the best option, which im very meh on.

Gotta draft/develop WRs in today's NFL, or you pay the price for it like we are.

in terms of a splash free agent signing at wide receiver i think calvin ridley is likeliest followed by tee higgins

neither seems likely though

i expect josh reynolds, juan jennings, brandon powell, isaiah mckenzie, tyler boyd, and jalen guyton to be interviewed and at least two of them signed

if the plan is jayden daniels at 3 but things change through the process the next few months, and plan B is michael penix, then i see a scenario where they trade down only a few spots from 3. i wouldnt mind an offensive tackle but to me that is plan C.

pats sign one of tee higgins/calvin ridley and michael onwenu/jonah williams

plan B fleshed out a little:

nyg trade pick 6&39 to ne for pick 3 for jayden daniels. at pick 6 pats take michael penix jr. and then package picks 34&39 to move up to pick 14 that the saints hold. at pick 14 pats pick brian thomas jr.

(mayo/pats org have relationship with brian daboll and mayo/covington have relationship/correspondence with saints over assistant michael hodges who pats are interviewing for their staff. saints cap situation could motivate them to trade down and acquire a volume of prospects)

I would be pissed if they don't get a OT with their 2nd pick.  MOF I would trade up if I have to.

WR  is the least of my worries. WR is where you spend the FA money. WR (team as well) are useless without a OL.

FA loaded with 2nd tier guys that look like All PRO's compare to what we have on the roster.  I would keep two WR and get rid of the rest.

Pats OL,  I could care less what PFF (FB stat site) says about our OL, it stinks.

Onwenu is gone, he will sign with a winner. Also I'm not paying him tackle money. He played well compared to his Pats piers, lets not believe the star crap. I also saw something on Sow making some rookie list, I laughed.

We need to fix the OL, that's the major problem with this team, not the WRs or (assumed they drafted Danials) anything else.

2024 this team will still struggle. To many things are new and need to be fix.

IMO the start back to the top, starts with the QB and the OL. You have both, YOU HAVE THE BALL. Team with the ball wins !!!!

Second pick, don't care how they get it done.  OT/OL is key to success

My list for 2nd pick. Favorite Jordan Morgan, Kingsley Suamataia,Tyler Guyton, Graham Barton.

Note  Cooper Beebe is a OG who has played OT.  He is one of my favorite in the draft. He not just a OG he is monster that could be one of the greats.

If they do get a OT with the 2nd pick and this kid falls I'm trading up for him. This could be the next Leon Gray , John Hannah combo. Morgan and Cooper on the left side.

Here is what I would do with the OL in 2024.  Morgan, Strange Andrews, Sow, FA.  Looking to replace Strange hopefully sign Wenu at OG, keep him if it's a reasonable contract at OT, sorry but he's gone, which stinks but a smart move.   IMO Strange would make a heck of a center.

My perfect start for 2024 OL would be.

Morgan, Cooper, Andrew/ Strange, Sow, FA.  Than I watch Sow and draft 2025 what is needed to fill out the OL.  2025 I fix the WRs / TE.

WR class is loaded with potential .  If they max out the OL in this draft , rest OL stinks look at WR/TE.

3/4 rd

3rd Jalen McMillan, Ja'Tavion Sanders TE Johnny Wilson Jacob Cowing Ben Sinnott TE

4th Jermaine Burton, Roman Wilson Cade Stover TE

That show how dumb the draft Bucky's are if he goes in the 4th.

He's a steal after the 2nd. MOF he might end up in the 2nd RD come draft time.

EX they had Jayden Reed going in the 5/6th rd in 2023 which I thought was nuts, drafted in the 2nd ,future star.

Sorry for the ramble, it's 12 degrees and I'm sitting on the coach doing Jack ship !!!!!!!!

@m haynes so with these trades and picks rather than 6.penix and 14.thomas jr you’d like it to be 6.joe alt and 14.penix/nix/mccarthy?
