adamq
Bo Nix got to play in a mickey mouse offense But Penix did have 3 NFL players to distribute to.. then again that was one of the few knocks Joey Burrow too. Does that correlate? No but it is something that happened. How many Mickey mouse college QBs have succeeded in the NFL?

Guys used to distributing to NFL Talent tend to be. Stafford had Knowshon Moreno, AJ Green Tua had Ruggs, Jeudy and Devante Smith Burrow had Jefferson, Chase, etc. Stroud had Olave, JSN, Garrett Wilson It's not a bad thing that QBs nowadays are getting practice with NFL Caliber WRs in college. Like that’s the norm, they work out? Do QBs 6’2+ tend to workout? Who were the talents that Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, Herbert, Lawrence, Dak, Brock, threw to? How’d Cox/Murray look after Stafford? How’d Mac Jones do in the NFL after Tua? Brennan after Burrow? I don’t think throwing to future NFLers is a knock, but let’s not act like it’s an indicator of success. So it's a small sample size for sure. But based on results so far, we can't act like it's a negative that people have talent around them. Bryce Young had issues last year, but he also had some real concerns (tiny, arm strength) that had nothing to do with situation around him. Mac Jones was fine until they had Matt Patricia running an offense.

I said it’s not something that NFL QBs just “tend” to have, anymore than NFL QBs “tend” to be 220lbs+. It can be a negative, but doesn’t have to be. Playing in a gimmicky offense can be a negative, but doesn’t have to be. Size, arm strength, running ability - things that can be negatives, that don’t have to be. Depends on the player. Acting like it’s the NFL norm for guys to be playing on loaded college offenses is copium, though.
