beekay414
Forgot to mention the RFA deals. Zacha gets $2.5 Million for 4 years while Butcher gets $4 Million over 4 (maybe 5). I brought back Josh Jacobs on a 3 year, $800,000 AAV deal to see if he can continue to improve down in Bingo.

We don't need Greene out there for 20+ minutes a night. We need to take a depth approach to our defense, not a traditional "shut down #1" type approach. We simply don't have the tools to do that yet. Yeah, it's kind of insane (and unfair) that we rely on Greene so much. Impossible for him not to get worn down

I really, really like zacha at that. I'm worried shero is going to give him some sort of two year bridge deal, which I hate
beekay414
Evolving Wild's contract projections Donskoi is projected at 3 years, $2.8 Million. I would be all over that but you'd think we'd have to give him the Jersey bump so it'd be closer to $3.5 or $4 Million. Here's all the projections for likely Devils targets; Jacob Trouba - 5 years, $7.3 Million AAV Mats Zuccarello - 4 years, $6.2 Million AAV (yeah, no thanks) Tyler Myers - 7 years, $6.167 Million AAV Alex Edler - 3 years, $5.85 Million AAV Gustav Nyquist - 6 years, $5.75 Million AAV Wayne Simmonds - 5 years, $5 Million AAV (definitely no thanks) Richard Panik - 4 years, $4.88 Million AAV (could be a legit option) Anton Stralman - 3 years, $4.56 Million AAV (maybe) Ryan Dzingel - 4 years, $4.33 Million AAV Michael Ferland - 4 years, $4.2 Million AAV (possible) Patrick Maroon - 3 years, $3.6 Million AAV Jordie Benn - 4 years, $3.55 Million AAV (nope nope nope) Brett Connelly - 3 years, $3.54 Million AAV (I'd consider it) Patrick Nemeth - 4 years, $3.4 Million AAV (Could be an option. He's a big LD) Joonas Donskoi - 3 years, $2.8 Million AAV (good god yes please) Thomas Vanek - 1 year, $2 Million AAV (could be a late option) Brandon Pirri - 1 year, $1.175 Million AAV Interestingly enough, he didn't project Butcher or Zacha. Holy hell, some of those are insane. 5 Mill for Simmonds? I was thinking he'd be a good Target for us at like one year, 4 million lol. 3 years seems like a lot for stralman too. Don't mind the salary, but at his age, 3 years is iffy. Same for Edler, though that salary is high. Dzingel is reasonable. I know his playoffs sucked, but that contract isn't bad. He should be in the radar. I want to take a shot on pirri. Dude has had an odd career.

beekay414
Saw this deal in Capfriendly's armchair GM forum. Taylor Hall and Damon Severson for Jacob Trouba and Nikolaj Ehlers. Not sure how I feel about it. On one hand, we get a young, potential first line LW to replace Hall but we have to trade Severson for the right to pay Trouba. Is Trouba really a good enough upgrade to Severson to warrant that move?

You know I don't love Severson, but that's not the right deal to unload him in in my opinion

I mean, we REALLY need a cornerstone Dman but I'm not sure if I could stomach moving Bratt. Vatanen (with an extension), 2020 1st, Miles Wood and Dallas's 2019 3rd. That or we take on Ryan Callahan and use that 2019 1st in this deal.
beekay414
With all this speculation, I'm just far more comfortable trading Hall for a, no pun intended, haul and continuing to build organically. This draft is going to be huge for us and there's no reason we can't ice a good hockey team in the near future. Listen, I get being impatient and wanting to win but, as a Bucks fan, I've seen teams make treadmill moves and it's not fun. I'd rather commit to building a long term winner rather than try to force a square peg in a round hole to appease a pending UFA, even if he happens to be a former Hart Trophy winner.
