  1. I'm glad I was.... Tepper was always going to fall hard for someone .... can't believe it's to the tune of 8.5 million a year.. but Rhule's a great program/culture builder hire... Now, we get the chance to see the Haslam's choose between all their choices.... They can't convince people that McDaniels was highly coveted by other teams....
  2. Fantasy is a powerful and an addictive drug. The drug of the day: Josh McDaniels as the Wunderkind New Bill Belichick football messiah that will descend upon Berea washing away all organizational sins and ushering in a time of eternal winning glory. An exciting fantasy. Withdrawal symptoms upon realization that McDaniels is nothing more than a hollow illusion with emotional instability, egomania, and fleeting leadership will cause such an increase in mass apathy that many Browns fans won't recover from it............ Until such a time when a hot new football drug named Steve Belichick is on the Head Coaching market 2 years after the McDaniels drug's potency has fallen off. Steve Belichick 2022 Browns Head Coach. To get a new Belichick hire we must his clone (I mean son).
  3. I have a strong feeling that David Tepper and his espoused vision for the Panthers organization are going to fall head over heels for Kevin Stefankski. They'll likely move to finalize a deal while Jimmy and Dee are in a McDaniels trance. Panthers - Kevin Stefanksi Giants - Matt Rhule Browns - Josh McDaniels
  4. This is such a detailed, well-thought out comprehensive search that will magically end with Jimmy and Dee's boy Josh McDaniels like everyone predicted at the outset of the search. Imagine that. Jimmy and Dee can't control their pants tingles. Baker can't control his "leader of men." McDaniels can't control his inner a**hole. Good times ahead.
  5. Imagine if McDaniels goes to the Giants and Stefanski finalizes a verbal agreement to the Panthers all before the Browns interview because of their disbelief in the Haslam's/this organization. It would be Cleveland fan/media mayhem. Brian Daboll, Jim Schwartz, Robert Saleh, Greg Roman, and Eric Bieniemy. I'd legit go with Daboll for all his reported communication, vision, and leadership traits. And it would still be madness.
  6. He stepped away from the Dolphins job this year due to a serious health issue. No word on what exactly the nature of the health issue was, but it could've factored in although people have been overlooking him forever so maybe it's just the same as it was before.
  7. Not yet. I have Davon in the group of Justin Madubuike, Neville Gallimore, and Larrell Murchison that I had on-deck to watch next Monday. I'll def. watch his tape closely now though. It would be great to get some of hidden gems to fall down the draft board at DT and NT. We have a long way to go before we're a real force there, and I have question regarding what Larry OGB can really become.
  8. You're right, but he knows all eyes are watching; he's aware of what's at stake and where he wants to go. But beyond that the issue is when he ascends to the captains chair; that is, what that absolute power will do; what flaws will it manifest... not how he presents himself as an Offensive Coordinator. He was fine in New England by all accounts before receiving the Denver job. No one had anything bad to say then. It was about what power revealed about his character. It's all good if a lot of you want to get on board the McDaniels train. I hope you all are right in the end. But based on what I've heard I just can't see that person as having the sustained Leadership this team and locker room needs. Like I've said in past posts, if we do hire McDaniels there are ways to support him and structure the organization around him that minimize his weaknesses and elevate his strengths. That's the approach we should take with him and any other Head Coach we hire for that matter.
  9. Well I guess that proves it then... Case closed... At 35 years old his personality was one way, treating people like they were lesser pieces of sh*t and now at 43 years old he's a new kind, gentle, wise man... then finally given a chance at a new position at 41 years old he strands multiple people, their careers, and families in Indianapolis while he heads back to New England ... I think we all know people that are cool and one way without power but when given power they lose their mind ... how he is under the watchful eyes of Patriots leadership as an OC baking Brownies for reporters is not necessarily indicative of how he'll be when he once again sits in the Captain's chair. People deserve the right to grow and change, but a person at 35 that is completely introverted does not magically become an extrovert at 43 years old. Some traits and ways of being are just how we are and while we can change a bit we don't stray far from our core personality. The wide-variety of reported and witnessed things that Josh McDaniels did in Denver are things that in my personal opinion (and it's okay to disagree) are things that are reflective of core personality traits and habits of being that manifest themselves especially under pressure and stress. All of us have made mistakes; all of us have had to grow and mature, but if my choice regarding who we should select to lead a huge human organization, I'd rather select a person without the ".. I promise I've changed that bad stuff was the old me..." stories and instead choose a person with a little more core personality strength and stability. Those are the traits that I'd bet on to survive the intoxicating influence of power and weather the storms of stress/adversity. If it is McDaniels, as long as we win and stay adversity free we should be okay for at least for a while (I hope). In the end, it's all a gamble. But to me, what reported traits do you want to gamble on? That's where a lot of us disagree.
  10. Swap the following players: QB: You Like That --- Progressive Commercial Savant RB: Dalvin Cook --- Nick Chubb RB/WR: Alexander Mattison/Ameer Abdullah --- Kareem Hunt WR: Stefon Diggs --- Odell Beckham Jr. WR: Adam Theilen --- Jarvis Landry TE: Kyle Rudolph --- David Njoku Do it Stefanski.
  11. Better as an OC or Better as a future Head Coach and Leader? We can't say that he's gotten better as a future Head Coach in ways that prevent the issues experienced in Denver per se. He definitely got better as an OC and witnessed more football and knowledge from Bill B. After Denver, he coordinated the worst DVOA Offensive Efficiency Offense in the league the following year with the Rams. Afterwards, he joined back up with the Patriots and experienced many successes as an OC with the Patriots Success washing all his mistakes away. To me, It's a big IF to say McDaniels has changed in ways that will help him be an effective Head Coach or Culture Leader. It's also a big IF to say Kevin Stefanski will successfully make the leap.
  12. If I have to choose and the staffs are equalized, I'm taking Stefanski based on perceived subsequent organizational alignment, emotional intelligence and emotional stability, perceived thoughtful leadership and mentality, a run-first play-action dominant zone-run/pass explosive play scheme, perceived willingness to learn and work collaboratively, and reported ability to adapt. At the outset of the coaching search, I made it clear that I wanted an established, successful Program/Culture Leader or Builder likely from College Football. Stefanski has a ton of perceived and real flaws that I've made known in various posts, but if I had to bet on Stefanski or McDaniels I'd put my chips on him and not on what I perceive as the more volatile and unstable leadership model of Josh McDaniels.
  13. Some of my favorite value selections for this upcoming draft Ross Blacklock, DT TCU (Likely in the 4th or 5th because I don't know why) Netane Muti, LT/OC/OG Fresno State (Likely in the 2nd due to injury concerns) Michael Pittman Jr., WR USC (Likely 2nd to 3rd because of speed concerns and draft poolpositional depth) Bryan Edwards, WR South Carolina (Likely 3rd to 4th because of speed concerns) Denzel Mims, WR Baylor (Likely late 2nd to 3rd because of speed concerns) JK Dobbins, RB Ohio State (Likely mid-2nd to early 3rd round due to positional value) Jalen Raegor, WR TCU (Likely in the 2nd because of low usage)
  14. Not all Blue-Chips are created equal. Some are Ready Made, Some are more developmental projections. There's a ton that I don't like about Herbert much like I didn't like about Josh Allen, but traits and ability-wise he's more of the developmental projection Blue-Chip type. His value is mid to late Round 1, but he'll go top 10 to our benefit. As much as there's a lot to dislike in his game, there's a lot to like and build off of. And Ultimately, I'm willing to bet on him having longterm successful NFL career.
  15. In my opinion, NFL evaluators will see the draft pool as having 8-14 true Blue Chip Prospects in this draft. I personally can make an argument for 16 prospects although some of the 16 I have valued as All-Pro top of the 1st Round Prospects and I believe in them (Jedrick Wills Jr.) while others on that list have Blue-Chip Developmental Traits as mid-to-late 1st round prospects and I don't really believe in them as much (Justin Herbert). The list is the following: 1.) Chase Young, DE Ohio State 2.) Jedrick Wills Jr., RT Alabama 3.) Andrew Thomas, LT Georgia 4.) Tristan Wirfs, OG-Phenom/OT Iowa 5.) Jeffrey Okudah, CB Ohio STate 6.) Cee Dee Lamb, WR Oklahoma 7.) Kristian Fulton, CB LSU 8.) Netane Muti, OG/LT Fresno State 9.) Jerry Jeudy, WR Alabama 10.) AJ Epenesa, DE Iowa 11.) Derrick Brown, 34NT Auburn 12.) (Healthy) Tua Tagovailoa, QB Alabama 13.) Joe Burrow, QB LSU 14.) Isaiah Simmons, LB Clemson 15.) Isaiah Wilson, RT Georgia 16.) Justin Herbert, QB Oregon
  16. Sh*t... just read reports that we're interviewing McDaniels Friday. Let me change the OP to make the Thread relevancy make sense still. Still holds. If they don't interview on the same day, we might have to make a choice on one before being able to interview the other.
  17. 3 Teams Remaining (Panthers, Giants, Browns) 2 Haslam Lead Candidates Remaining (McDaniels & Stefanski) I discussed it during the Vikings game, we can interview and finalize a contract with Josh McDaniels immediately but with Stefanski's team still in the playoffs we cannot finalize an agreement until after the Vikings playoff run is done. NFL precedence is that teams come to an informal agreement and it's rare that such agreements are broken. Even still by letting one candidate "leave the building" we risk losing them in order to wait for another candidate. In my opinion, we will have to make a decision on one or the other decisively without letting them leave the building. By waiting, we may risk losing out on the other. Setting aside preferences for one coach over the other, is it worth it to wait on the 2nd guy if he's thought to be #1 HC Target giving the team/organizations the best opportunity at sustained winning and alignment?
  18. I don't think I said that. I probably pointed out his apparent weaknesses and strengths, and I probably mentioned how I'd like to bring in other candidates outside of our coaching list to interview. But I did pick Stefanski/Berry as the pairing out of the available list that I'd like the Haslam's to hire.
  19. I agree that Wirfs can play Left tackle and has the ability to be anything he wants. I just think he'll be best at Guard, and we'll just have to agree to disagree on what his best position is. I'm not sure that I see Austin Jackson as lazy per se as much as a player that just lacks core awareness and struggles with the mental aspect of the game. In the games of his I've watched. I don't yet have an evidenced-based Tight-End ranking list that I'm confident in as I've only really studied a handful of prospects. I was going to dive in, but then I got side-tracked by watching the Linebackers as I kept coming across unheralded prospects that had great tape. I liked Trautman early on as "my guy." Now, my guy is Harrison Bryant, TE FIU. His tape is the most consistent. He's likely to be available in the 3rd round thus not requiring us to spend heavy draft capital on him. He's tough and I think he can do it all although he needs to improve his strength and technique as a blocker. I'm honestly not a Jared Pinkney guy guy as he's wildly inconsistent and I think he's very much so overrated. If I had to choose between Bryant and Pinkney it would be Bryant by a fair margin. Haven't watched Wilkerson yet but he's on my list of Tight-Ends to watch.
  20. This is all that matters when it comes to McDaniels. The question is if his mistakes reflect a core, less changeable part of his personality or way of being that will show itself again under stress or power, or if they were things that he's able to grow and mature from. I don't think it makes sense to just assume that he's definitely a changed man as the flaws in the past may speak to a core part of how he is. Just as it wouldn't make sense to think that Urban Meyer has learned from his past mistakes and won't burn himself out in his next job hire. The scheming guys open talent only matters if he has the attributes/mentality to be a successful sustainable head coach. Only time will tell. I fall on the side of thinking McDaniels issues were reflective of core personality flaws that may be masked and suppressed as long as the team wins and does well, but will manifest in negative ways if the team faces long stretches of adversity. Assuming we hire him, I desperately hope all of you who have McDaniels as your favorite are right and I'm wrong.
  21. Not by a wide-margin. Wirfs is the Better long-term pro-projection Guard prospect compared to Nelson. Nelson out of college was the more mature, better player. Less tools, Lower Ceiling than Wirfs. Higher Floor than Wirfs.
  22. The real dream of dreams is ... 1 of Jedrick Wills Jr./Andrew Thomas/Tristan Wirfs AND 1 of Prince Tega-Wanogho/Netane Muti AND 1 of Terrance Steele/Yasir Durant/Austin Jackson My favorite permutation is Wills / Tega-Wanogho / Steele -OR- Wirfs / Tega-Wanogho / Steele. If it takes our 1st, 2nd, both 3rd round picks, and a future mid-round pick to accomplish bringing those 3 OLineman in, then that should be our goal. If somehow we were able to acquire one piece via free agency (Guard: Graham Glasgow or Brandon Scherff) it would free up the draft capital to be used elsewhere.
  23. Absolutely. Nelson didn't have the movement ability but had the better mentality and better awareness/eyes. Wirfs has more raw power than Nelson. Martin similarly had it all except for the next level athleticism and next level power compared to Wirfs. It was so clear watching Zack Martin when he played Left Tackle at Notre Dame that we were watching an all-pro guard. Much like it was as clear as day when watching Brandon Scherff playing Tackle that he was an All-Pro Guard. The same way it was clear with Martin, Scherff, and Bitonio, it is as clear as day to me and others that Tristan Wirfs is a Guard. The only difference being Wirfs has no deficiencies in terms of raw athleticism or power. His development will be in terms of awareness, decision-making, and advanced technique. He's the all everything Guard prospect Offensive Line Coaches dream and think about when they portal into the Offensive Line Parallel Utopian Universe whenever they enter transcendent mind states facilitated either via psychotropics or by mental enlightenment. When we select Wirfs with the GUARD designation....
  24. Athleticism in this case to me is "Coordination." Roderick Johnson is actually a great comparison and one I've made except Alaric Jackson has more base power, better balance, and better instincts than Roderick Johnson did. Roderick Johnson was a good linear athlete but was not a well-coordinated athlete. I see Alaric as a better version of Johnson, but he also is not the most coordinated footwork or hips athlete. I know for a fact that teams had a 6th and 7th round grade on Johnson because of his balance, contact balance, and footwork deficiencies. According to former scouts and people connected in league like Bucky Brooks and Lance Zierlein, Roderick Johnson was seen as a slight overdraft in the 5th round. I see Alaric as being a similar prospect considered late round prospect going the 5th to 7th much like a Johnson. I think we can evaluate Austin Jackson on his own merits apart from comparing him to Alaric Jackson. Austin Jackson has 1st round movement ability, 5th to 6th round awareness, instincts, and feel for the game, 2nd round anchor ability, 3rd round ability to handle power; 1st round knee bend. When scouts see Austin Jackson they can see a world where hard work and coaching development can help Jackson be a viable high quality starter some day. In the end, his skills likely make him a mid-to-late 2nd rounder; that is, a player with 1st round upside but too many serious question marks to take that risk. This is a league where Kaleb McGary goes in the 1st round and tackle Greg Little goes at the top of the 2nd. I can see Austin Jackson becoming a high quality starter down the line (though he doesn't have the awareness to bet that he'll likely get there); I can't see that Alaric Jackson becoming that. The former is a 2nd-early 3rd round prospect; the latter a 5th-7th. What separates them is the ceiling and upside.
