  1. I'm not on the "Lamar can't throw" train. He proved himself all year with how special he can be. Special person and special talent. But so far he and the team with him have absolutely proven to be Epic choke artists in the playoffs .... so still hold that L .... LOLLLL HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE... Big Truss.... Playoff Bye... Couldn't even win the first game ... 88 yards passing Ryan Tannehill got you outta there... ... kindly return to the ratbird forum from whence you came and share misery with your comrades ... leave us to our misery, but we got somethin for Big Truss and the choke-connoisseurs next year... you'll see soon enough....
  2. Thanks for your insights and for the well wishes. All good points about not basing opinions on the last game. Sean McVay's last game as an OC before becoming a head coach featured 10 total points and a loss to the Giants. What's your sense on Minny fans thoughts on 1.) Pat Shurmur returning as OC, 2.) Klint Kubiak being promoted to OC (is he ready if he stepped in or came to the Browns?), or 3.) Gary Kubiak being promoted to OC?
  3. I'll tell you from first hand it was a trash experience. But real real quick though I don't mean to cut you off, but can you hold this for me real real quick.... We'll see you ratbirds next year ... home-field advantage, Lamar Jackson healthy, lost at home in the first playoff game... lol .... send my regards to Big Truss ...
  4. No one has any idea what Jarvis Landry is talking about. He could be talking about the 10-11 days he told media members it would take for him to come to his conclusion about surgery or not on his hip. He talked about starting fresh for the new year and being a new man. It could be a sign he's all in on what he can control for the next season and has nothing to do with Stefanski's hiring per se. We don't have a clue. Fans stalking and then pestering an athlete after they think they think they know what social media posts mean just creation a toxic environment for the athlete's to live though. He'll be out up to 6 months after surgery. No one is trading for him. He's not putting in a trade request. It's all going to be just fine.
  5. Slink back to your dungeon of colossal disappointment with Big Truss and the Ls. You had home-field advantage in the playoffs; the best record in the entire league; and then choked not even able to beat Ryan Tannehill. You played in 1 more game than the Browns and in that game you lost. This was the best chance yall had; and they showed themselves to be Epic choke-artists. We suck most of the time, but I can't imagine having super bowl, mvp dreams only to lose at home to the fighting Tannehills.
  6. No Mike McDaniel. Can't take the risk. No Brad Childress. Mike LaFleur and the dream of dreams commences.
  7. 1.) See this: https://zonecoverage.com/2019/minnesota-vikings-news/why-kevin-stefanski-might-be-the-nfls-next-great-offensive-coach/ 2.) Then See Below
  8. If we announce the hiring after the New Orleans Saints game, it would've been a whole different feeling.
  9. Exactly... people thought... and it wasn't so. A lot of thoughts on Stefanski right now.... we'll see what it so down the line.
  10. Everyone was through the moon when we hired Freddie Kitchens. Excitement at the point of hire and excitement at the opening press conference isn't predictive of any longterm success. Hiring Gary and/or Klint Kubiah is the highest priority right now. Ensuring that Stefanski doesn't get away from the outside zone, play-action heavy game is the most important thing right now
  11. Stefansk, like Matt LaFleur and younger unproven head coaches, is going to require early success to facilitate buy-in to his plan and belief in him. Coming off a game where there's disbelief in the fan base and media, if it starts out rocky there will be questioning of Stefanski narratives swirling around the players and coaching staff. Could be a recipe for players tuning him out as he may not possess the quality to command the locker room. LaFleur was the same way. Winning and early success concretized the buy in from players. We have to go all in and free agency and the draft to help him get off to a good start.
  12. His staff hirings are a mystery now. No Brad Childress. Yes to Gary Kubiak and Klint Kubiak. Anything that maintains the outside zone, heavy play action continuity
  13. Should've been Jim Schwartz. Hope against hope that Brad Childress has nothing to do with the hire. Hope somehow some way Gary Kubiak comes with Stefanski. Maybe he hires his son Klint to facilitate that process. Not the best hire, but it could've been worse. Have to hope last year's process wasn't just the deciding factor that made them unwilling to be open to other candidates. ----------------- Remaining Questions on Stefanski: 1.) What's Stefanski's offense away from Kubiak? Is it the DeFillipo-Kubiak mix or does he have core philosophy similar to what the Vikings are doing currently (Kubiak Outside zone, Play-Action)? 2.) Can Stefanksi lead the offense and team successfully without the shepherding of an elite mentor coach and wise mind like Gary Kubiak? 3.) Can Stefanski command the locker room? 4.) Can he hold players accountable? 5.) Can he build an effective, tough-minded and disiciplined culture? ---------------- Gary Kubiak has guidance/mentorship meetings with Kevin Stefanski after every offensive meeting. They talk every detail through. Gary watches Kevin teach and offers development tips. Gary Kubiak meets with Kirk Cousins and drills him mentally and meets with him to improve his mentality and approach. The outside zone and play-action heavy play-calling and play-sequencing is a Gary Kubiak installation with Stefanski's collaboration. Prior to Kubiak, the Vikings offense was the John DeFillipo offense. When Stefanski took over as the interim OC, there was no time to change playbooks at the end of the season. This has led people to question: What is Stefanski's core offensive philosophy on his own? Is he an outside zone, play-action guy or will he be something much different or with less mastery when he's out on his own.
  14. We shouldn't hire Stefanski just because he may have been the right candidate within last year's coaching candidate pool. I hope Jim Schwartz and others get the proper consideration as does Stefanski himself. Still on Baker's rookie deal, a make or break year coming up for Baker, young players becoming veterans, and salary cap flexibility still existent if we don't get this hire right it very well could reset us back to the limbo existence of prior Browns insanity.
  15. Indeed, I trust DePodesta's analysis depth and ability to critically think about and assess various qualities of a Head Coach. But he alone isn't what we need. The 4 that voted for Freddie according to LaCanfora's report were JW Johnson, Jimmy Haslam, Dee Haslam, and John Dorsey. The 2 dissenting were Berry and DePo. This Year we swapped out Andrew Berry for Chris Cooper. And without Dorsey, the primary group consists of 5 people (JW, Jimmy, Cooper, DePo, and Dee). Good times ahead...
  16. This is why we're F*cked. JW Johnson, Jimmy Haslam, Dee Haslam, Chris Cooper (capologist), and Paul DePodesta. Who of that group is qualified to assess the sustained winning and program/culture leader characteristics of a Head Coach? According to Jason LaCanfora (assuming he's right), "That six-person party (JW Johnson, Jimmy Haslam, Dee Haslam, John Dorsey, Andrew Berry, and Paul DePodesta) was involved in all of the interviews and when the interviews were complete, each had a voice in "voting" essentially for the candidate of their choosing, sources said. In the end, only DePodesta and Berry tallied a dissenting vote when it came down to the finalists, with Kitchens prevailing by a 4-2 margin." The coaching search committee is privy to tons of more information on the candidates than us. Background check info, the vision and culture they layout, what references say, what their plan is, what all kinds of other people in the league have to say about them, etc. The issue is I have no doubt that a group of 6 of us on the forum would be able to sift through the information and come to a better decision than the Haslam's coach search committee. They selectively pay attention to the wrong things, and I'm not even sure they know the right questions to ask or what the quality responses are. It goes beyond winning the interview. They really have to dig in and know waht to look for.
  17. The Legend Begins ... We are all witnesses ...
  18. 1.) Jim Schwartz 2.) Brian Daboll 3.) Depends but probably Stefanski
  19. Hue Jackson was the only one. Terry Robiskie was a bald interim head coach then he got canned. Romeo Crennel had hair. The Browns most often love to hire trash head coaches of a different hue.
  20. This.... would be madness.. Berry is on the opposite side of the spectrum and would serve as a great counter-balance for McDaniels. In my mind, I just don't see that Josh would mesh well with Andrew without bulldozing him or going for a power grab at some point. Ed Dodds is his own man and personality and wouldn't acquiesce to McDaniels. I wonder if his relationship with Chris Ballard would strain he and McDaniels working relationship at all. If not, Dodds and McDaniels philosophically are a good fit. It's interesting that McDaniels was willing to go work with Ballard. Maybe he trusts Dodds as well. I personally don't think the Haslam's are willing to make some of the organizational changes that McDaniels would desire, but that's all just personal sense.
