mar29020
Calling it now. Brice wants to make sure they get their moneys worth out of Alex and they see it as an opportunity to let Haskins season some more on the bench. They will be thrilled about Alex getting us 7-9 wins next year. I can see it now. I know you guys see Alex sitting up with Snyder every week in the box. Plus, we are in November almost and haskins struggles at just lining them up. Edited October 25, 2019 by mar29020 speeling errror

naptownskinsfan
It will absolutely happen if Smith is cleared by a doctor. Big if. But it seems they are playing for that eventuality. 1.) Not only has Smith been spotted in the owner's box, but he's also been photographed on the field with him before games as well. 2.) Smith has already been working out at Redskins Park and throwing the football again. 3.) He had a prominent mention during Allen's press conference announcing the coaching change. The dude has had 17 operations on his leg and is in his mid 30's. He's not going to be a difference maker at all. The last time this kind of injury happened and a player attempted a comeback, it was a former Redskin and he wasn't the same guy.

His dead money hit actually becomes more manageable next year if he is designated as a post June 1st cut if I recall correctly, however. naptownskinsfan
Saving $10 million of guaranteed money cost us Kendall Fuller and a third round pick though.

mar29020
The redskins should be double dipping this year by evaluating Haskins for the future and considering another QB at 1 or 2

That doesn't make sense.

Skins212689
If Smith is telling them he wants to play and showing progress he can play, I can absolutely seeing them going with a decision like this. This also gives Haskins more time to sit and develop as a QB. The question than becomes who signs up to coach the team and follow that plan?
