As someone who still roots for Braun and whatnot, I guess what I would say is that baseball pre-Braun was a background sport and he brought it to the forefront. It became socially acceptable to suggest to go to a Brewers game in a way in 2005-ish and on in a way that just didn't really exist in the Country stadium days. He didn't "bring baseball back", but he brought the Brewers to new heights just in terms of relevance in the state.

That doesn't excuse what he did, but when I think of Braun's career now, I think about how he made it cool to be a Brewer fan in a way that didn't exist before.
