ET80
Injuries are out of control the last few days... You can't just dive into this, hopefully teams will see that now.
minutemancl
That stinks. Core is a great special teamer. On the bright side though, this opens up a roster spot for one of the UDFA WRs we signed. Apparently, Binjimen Victor (OSU), Derrick Dillon (LSU), and Austin Mack (OSU) have all been impressing and competing super hard. Young guys like David Sills and Alex Bachman have also been showing up a bit. One of those guys could sneak on to the final 53.

As a head coach, if you really ease into hitting, you run the risk of your players getting injured during live games due to the sudden ramp up or to a lesser extent, just getting whooped by a more aggressive/ready team. If you go too hard too fast, you run the risk of your players getting injured in practice. You've got to have high intensity practices with hitting, but with minimizing risk to the players. It's tough. In this situation though, supposedly this was a non-contact injury. Injuries happen. I'm sure part of this is just a matter of numbers- 32 teams, made up of 80 players each, started practicing all at the same time. Some of those players are going to get hurt. By the time the NFL started making decisions it was too late for teams to really adapt, especially when the NFL and NFLPA limits contact practices so teams really couldnt take it upon themselves to do anything until they got the word.

Absolutely. The timeline that every team is dealing with makes it practically impossible to do this ramp up period/offseason in a safe and successful way. It's a shame.
