Good.  He's no 3rd round pick caliber Punter, but he's been really solid.  Always seems like basically just housekeeping, to keep a punter around...right up until the point you don't have a good punter, and that's annoying.  So, nice to have that sorted.

Depends on money.

I mean, sure...but only really up to a point.  And it's hard to imagine it being any kind of crazy money, on a punter.  If he's paid toward the higher end of punters that'd be fine still.  Even top punter salaries aren't that high, and there isn't a huge spread between the high and low end of vet punter deals.  We're probably talking about a million or million and a half difference at most.  On a team that has oodles of cap space, and not a whole lot to use it on right now anyway.

He's not a top 5 punter

He was 6th in average punt yards, 6th in net yards, 5th in Punts downed without a return. He belongs in that range, give or take. And with inflation, the value is around like 8th-ish. Which is certainly fair.

Yeah.  It's not a "bargain" or anything.  But it's pretty much just right on that expected market value of "upper end of punter salaries".  In the next couple years, he'll probably slide down the that 6-10 range as others sign their new deals, and so the wheel spins.  Now we've got him locked in and that punter spot sorted for hopefully another 4 years where the deal is just going to continue to get better as new ones are signed around him.

Really not worth getting back on the carousel and looking for a new punter who might not even be top half of the league, much less Top-5/10ish...over what?  Maybe $500k that would put him barely in the Top-10 average salaries, without even factoring for inflation and contract growth over time?  Nah.  That's chump change.  It'd be the epitome of "penny wise, pound foolish".

There's fa punter out there right now who could be had for the cheapest contract potentially and he's easily top 15 in the league

The difference between 3M and the vet minimum over the next four seasons is going to be less than 1% of the entirety of the cap. I have no idea why anyone would concern themselves with worrying about that when locking up the most viable option at a position.
