mayanfootball
POLL: Who is the best left OT the Chiefs could of had? Edited April 29, 2021 by mayanfootball
Chiefs_5627
Trent is probably the best LT in the biz but out of any other possibilities we realistically could have had OB is that guy.
onejayhawk
For the poll, the best is the one you actually have. The rest is daydreams. Trent Williams is 33, but still playing at a high level. He signed with the 49ers for, presumably, the rest of his career. He would likely have done the same for us. His style and the offenses he's been in are closer to ours. There was no draft cost. Orlando Brown is 24, on the last year of his rookie contract. He was vocal in his unhappiness about not being allowed to play LT and his intent to get the payday he deserves. He's cocky, he's earned it and seems to be well respected among other OL. While he does not have a long track record at LT, he does have one and in a Pro Bowl season. His draft cost is the equivalent of a mid-2nd round pick, for presumably a single season. It's hard to gauge how well OBJ will fit in. Having a veteran like Thuney next to him cannot hurt. That said, he is still learning a new position and a new scheme on top of that. Williams was the low key option. OBJ will pump up the volume and that could be a good thing. J Edited April 25, 2021 by onejayhawk

Reports are that Williams was very close to signing and that the 49ers almost snatched the pen from his hand. J

J Ofc those are the reports, bargaining tool. Trent wasnt gonna leave one of his favorite coaches, doesnt mean he cant squeeze out a few more pennies going into retirement
