for this draft, I like WR Brandon Smith as well as OT Alaric Jackson and LB Nick Niemann. Alaric Jackson is probably the most interesting as he was at one point seen as a potential 1st round pick when both he and Tristan Wirfs were our OTs. I could also see someone taking Mekhi Sargent, but I doubt it.

If it's any consolation, the chargers took Niemann with what was our pick originally.

OG - Trey Smith is still available.  I wonder if teams are scared off because of his injury issues.  Sounds like our kind of guy!  :D

Feel like he's more the sort of guy our previous regime would've been more into, than this one.

I'm kind of surprised so many RB's have gone off the before Gainwell.

I'm not really surprised he lasted as long as he did.  That whole Memphis scheme is so janky.  It's a ton of fun to watch, but i don't really know how a guy like Gainwell actually translates to the NFL.  He looks like basically just a gadget player, and even then...it's not totally clear how he'll do running gadget plays in the NFL, without those hilarious corridors wrinkled by blocks every which way through the line of scrimmage.  One of those players that's a lot of fun to watch in College in a particular system...but doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in how they'll look in the NFL where the extremes of Memphis mickey mouse wide spread zooming around offense don't really work.

Urban is familiar with Farrell.

That's not the type of TE Urban is going to want as a pass catcher.

Yeah.  Farrell is a pretty uninspired pick...but at least he's pretty well tailored for the type of TE he's supposed to be, and has that familiarity with Urban that should combine to make him pretty "plug 'n play".

Brevin is a total oddball short TE, where testing out as a very disappointing athlete is kind of the kiss of death.  If you're gonna have an HBack/MoveTE/Receiverwhatever Hybrid type TE...you want them to at least be a really explosive athlete.  Especially if you're Urban, who really emphasizes speed and explosive/dynamic athleticism for his more "specialist" or "niche" playmaker roles.

Why the heck is Jordan Smith's score so garbo?  There are obvious issues in that he's kind of a tangled ball of limbs and lacking functional strength right now.  But that still doesn't seem right.  Not to that extreme.  lol.
