NudeTayne
These are fun. Traded away '23 4th & 7th. Punted on QB for a year to see what Houston has in Davis Mills and also '23 class looking much better. Enjoy!: Draft 10. Evan Neal, RT Alabama ~The two edges go one and two so Houston begins a series of trade-downs to fill as many needs as possible. Neal makes it to 10 after QB action and locks down the right side of the line~ 25. Jordan Davis, DT Georgia ~Davis is a monster but also likely more of a two-down later. At least, that's what a lot of the league considers, and Davis falls to 25~ 54. Jahan Dotson, WR Penn State ~Dotson is pure bpa here and fills a need. He's also a potential replacement for Cook, in case he's not long for Houston~ 56. Roger McCreary, CB Auburn ~CB1 probably sooner than later. He's a baller~ 69. Brandon Joseph, S Northwestern ~Both secondary studs should start as rookies and to be a part of the team's future core backfield. Joseph will help replace Reid if/when he walks~ 75. Arnold Ebiketie, EDGE Penn State ~Possible starter as a rookie--great chunk of clay~ 88. Kyren Williams, RB Notre Dame ~Time to replenish RBs~ 89. Alec Lindstrom, IOL Boston College ~Chris's little brother, talented in his own right and potentially a long-term starter~ 122. Isaiah Thomas, EDGE Oklahoma ~another explosive edge to round out the unit~ 124. Jahleel Billingsley, TE Alabama 165. Jeremy Ruckert, TE Ohio State ~Two TEs in a row, one being a vertical threat and the other solid at everything, especially blocking~ 169. Zakoby McClain, LB Auburn ~speed and coverage~ 180. Tyler Goodson, RB Iowa ~power to balance Kyren~ 202. Isaiah Pola-Mao, S USC ~Troy's nephew, a solid late grab~ 218. Edefuan Ulofoshio, LB Washington ~instinctual LB to help Houston forget Cunningham sooner~ 248. Deslin Alexandre, DT Pittsburgh ~explosive DT/edge who can move all over the line~ 252. Dee Wiggins, WR Miami-Fl ~a dart throw to see if he can finally put it all together~ 257. Tyler Shough, QB Texas Tech ~enticing prospect from just down the way~ What do y'all think? NudeTayne
Took a different angle on this one. The Texans trade Deshaun to the Giants, with him getting a slap on the wrist. They trade out of their own pick to get more picks, as they have five blue chip talents on their draft board: 5. Kyle Hamilton S Notre Dame 11. Kaiir Elam CB Florida 34. Treylon Burks WR Arkansas 47. Trevor Penning OT/OG Northern Iowa 63. Brandon Smith LB Penn State 66. Desmond Ridder QB Cincinnati 70. Kyler Gordon CB Washington 76. Kyren Williams RB Notre Dame 80. NudeTayne
Thought another one of these was called for, as the season is winding down. I believe the front office gives Mills another year of development and then decides at the end of next season what to do at QB. Culley is fired. The new coach is...??? Watson gets traded to Philadelphia for 13 and a '23 first. Draft The two edges go 1 and 2 so the Texans trade down for multiple picks, then trade down again for value at the bottom of the first and in the second round. Stingley falls to 13 and is the guy. The Texans make a lot of picks and fill out the roster going forward. The secondary and offensive skill groups are completely overhauled, as well as adding potential starters across the board. Many players drafted have positional flexibility so whoever the new coach is will be able to work a new system in. Easterby is happy. 2023: extra 1st from Philadelphia in case the need to move up for a QB, minus 2023 5/6/7 used for 6/6/7 this year. 13. Derek Stingley CB LSU 28. Treylon Burks WR Arkansas 39. NudeTayne
The Texans do a total rehaul, trading Watson, firing Culley, watching Reid walk, trading disgruntled Tunsil before gets injured again and/or becomes a problem. While tempted to select Hutchinson, Easterby takes the pragmatic approach and trades down. Kayvon is slow to heal and skips the combine. He falls to pick 8 and is the third edge off the board (Karlaftis expected to blow up combine) at pick 8. Linderbaum falls due to position and several tackle-needy teams overdrafting position over player talent. Willis at 43 is as much a hedge as it is sound drafting, as the risk is worth taking there even if Mills ends up being the guy. 8. Kayvon Thibodeaux EDGE Oregon 26. Treylon Burks WR Arkansas 28. NudeTayne
I wonder if Easterby will surprise everyone and go hard at offensive line, as the unit is hanging on by a thread and needs a total rehaul if/when Tunsil is traded. In this scenario the Texans sign Arden Key to start at edge. This frees up offensive line, runningback and back-seven on defense. I have the Texans trading Tunsil for a '23 1st, thus really opening up the offensive line to being a draft priority. Jack is able to trade down to five, banking that either Neal or Hamilton would be there, which one was. The Texans begin the run on elite offensive linemen, Cross goes pick #7, and the Texans bookend the run by snagging Ekwonu at #12. Watson is traded during the draft and is sent to the Cardinals who are moving on from Kyler Murray (who are trading him for two firsts from the Steelers). Penning falls to 29, Jack and Nick look at each other shrug. Ekwonu will play guard. The rest of the draft is bpa and in general surrounding Mills with talent on offense, with only a few picks spent on defense. Next year's draft will be dedicated to defense. The Texans have two extra '23 1sts and one extra '24 1st and 2nd. 5. Evan Neal OT Alabama 12. Ikem Ekwonu OG North Carolina State 29. Trevor Penning OT Northern Iowa 36.
