EPC Mock draft Pick 42

This is the EPC mock in GM Mocks thread.

1.13  Peter Skoronski
2.42  OTC
2.43 (traded to Green Bay w/C Davis for Rodgers)

Was looking for a trade back to get some more picks, but did not receive a respectable offer  so I'll be selecting in a few minutes.  Here's how I'm leaning based on the list of avail players below.

1. Mazi.  Mazi and Q next to each other with at least one of them always in the rotation?  You kidding me?  Wow.  I like that.
2. Kincaid.  IMO, Best receiving TE in the draft. Blows away anything on Jets roster without exception.
3. Antonio Johnson.  Large, dynamic safety, fills a big need I think.  So does Simpson

I'm leaning Mazi but cryinng over Kincaid TBH.

Was trying to trade back and get pick(s) and pick Benton a little later instead of Mazi.  I got an offer for 47, but he wasn't offering enough capital.

No Hooker please.

Antonio Johnson S
Trenton Simpson OLB
Dalton Kincaid TE
Mazi Smith DL1T
Drew Sanders ILB
Hendon Hooker QB
Josh Downs WR
Felix Anudike-Uzomah EDGE
Keion White DL5T
Zach Harrison EDGE
Derick Hall EDGE
Devon Achane RB
Keeanu Benton DL1T

eh nvm.  I picked Smith.  Had one offer for a trade down to 47 but only for pick 150.  I'd rather have Smith, Kincaid, or Johnson.  If all gone by 47, then it would have been Benton.    No Hookers.

Of all the Jets drafts since JD is GM this is the most difficult to predict. I'm in a minority in thinking the Jets pass on OL help in round 1. So the Jets pass on a T in round 1. Now if that is true, and depending on who falls the Jets may be in a prime position to trade back.

Again, I believe the Jets will trade back especially if someone they value could be had later in the first round. So if the top RB is available at 13 like Bijan or Hooker, Carter or Levis and a team wants to move up?

In that case I see the Jets moving back and picking up valuable draft capitol for either this year or next. In every draft players thought to be top 10 fall and being in line at 13 the Jets are in prime local to draft down.

Where are the Jets currently most vulnerable, 2 positions NT and C, and both are interchangeable 1st round or 2nd round.

If that's the case, the Jets in round 1 draft Bresee DT/NT, and JMS C in round 2.  Both guys are lights out "killer picks" that will anchor the lines for the next 5-10 years.

If i were to do this again, I'd try to trade back in rd 1 as well as rd 2.  But I was late to the trade thread for any trading in rd 1. So it is what is.

So the NY Jets hoped to do at least one trade back to gain more picks, but to no avail.  Began this draft under the assumption Rodgers for one of the Jets #2's, which is still my strong belief.   So we went: Skoronski, Mazi Smith in rds 1 & 2.  In retrospect, I would have spent some time trying to trade out of rd 1, but I was late to the early trading party there.  Now I know what it feels like to be Mike Mccagnan, who couldn't execute a trade if one was handed to him.

Then there is the Nittany Lions duo in rds 4 and 5.  My favorite picks here.  If the Jets were to really acquire both Ji'Ayir Brown and Juice, it would be orgasmic. That's a pair of serious need positions on the Jets (as well as Smith at DT) with players that have a great upside.

For the final pick in rd 6, I got home late last night, was looking at the options and narrowed it down to WR (one of Wicks, Higgins, Bell or Pacua), Luter, CB, or Ojomo, DL.  Since the Jets cut their punter, Mann, yesterday (drafted by Joe Douglas BTW) I considered a punter for about 2 seconds.  Actually looked up Harbinger and his profile (he's not exactly Ray Guy) then said... would Joe Douglas make the same stupid mistake twice?  NFW.  Job on line. He's not drafting another punter. LOL.

By the time I checked in the morning (well after an expired time slot), Ojomo was taken (excellent pick, BTW,  for Saints) .  Wish I had a 7th round pick. If so, would have taken Luter followed by WR in 7.  But no 7th.   Opted for WR due to Jets likely roster, w/o Corey Davis and Elijah Moore.. just G Wilson, Lazard (not a huge fan), Hardman and Mims. Call me crazy, but I preferred the BYU kid over the others.  He'll have Zach Wilson throwing to him on the B teams all summer. But they were never at BYU together anyway.

This is my 2nd Jets GM mock. The other went better because I could execute a couple of trades.

I'd love to do one more somewhere.
