Gonna take a lot of coaching. Fortunately, we have one of the best TE coaches.

There's a few X factors that go into this with him.

1. Depth. Right now he's 4th on the depth chart, so he'll likely get no time his rookie year. So he's pretty much redshirting this year like Ruckert did last year. 1 or both CJ or Conklin might be gone after this year though.

2. Our OL play. If the OL can block good, we don't need to keep a TE in very often to help. We can send receiving TEs out on routes for mismatches. Last year we didn't have this luxury... so we saw a guy like CJ kept in mostly to block and not utilizing his receiving skills like we could have. The better the OL the less we have to rely/hope on Kuntz being a reliable blocking TE.

3. Him being taught how to utilize his tools. Watching film on him at Old Dominion, he wasn't using his body like he should. Not always high pointing balls where it should be easy for him to win 50/50 balls. Not blocking out defenders with his huge frame and such. He can be taught this.

Hoping for good things for him in the future.

His physical attributes are undeniable.  Although, he looks oddly "bumpy" in that picture.  He will really need to concentrate on being a "move" TE since I think his height will make his blocking less than stellar.  Curious to see him in preseason.

If the guy puts in the work... he can be special with his traits.

The guy put in the work to be drafted, but the reality here is, for all his freak athletics he is a weak sister against CB's/S/FS, he needs to become tough, hard, and immovable. Those traits are missing. He is a project to be sure and buried 6 deep?
