Should the Cardinals take Marvin Harrison Jr 1st overall next year if they get the pick?

You know, I will issue one caveat.  It would not be absolutely, astonishingly insane to pass on Caleb Williams if Maye and Nix or Travis or some other of the top QB prospects ball out AND the Texans' pick is in the top 5.

Then the question is as such… do you prefer:

A) Caleb Williams and TE Brock Bowers (arguably the 2nd best positional player and 2nd best pass catcher in this draft)?

B) Marvin Harrison Jr and QB Drake Maye/Bo Nix (whoever shakes out as QB2)?

Conventional wisdom is you take the highest rated QB - and that makes a lot of sense when you consider that Bowers is more WR than TE and will probably be similarly rated as Harrison Jr as a prospect next draft season. Bowers is probably the next non-QB skill position off the board, and he’s likely to be another TE in the Travis Kelce/Mark Andrews mold, just as viable a threat as the majority of WRs are in the league.

I remember there being a debate about what the Browns should do in 2018. There were a lot of arguments for them to take Saquon at #1, since the Giants were probably going to take him if the Browns didn't, then just take whatever QB is left at 4. They ended up taking Baker at 1, and while the result wasn't great, the process they used was sound and correct. Same thing with the Texans this past year; while the trade up to 3 can be debated, taking Stroud at 2 can't. If he was their top ranked QB and they had him ranked highly, you take him there. No questions, no debates. Never pass on a QB to settle on a QB. You can settle on any other position.

Yes, GM Monti Ossenfort should pass up Caleb Williams -- if his goal is to get fired. It would be like when George Costanza got a better offer from the Mets and he tried to get fired by dragging the Yankees World Series trophy with his car.

I think this sums it up pretty well. You take the highest rated QB on the board - if it’s Williams, take him. If it’s Maye, take him. If it’s Nix, take him.

Let the other positions fall where they may.
