Former Titans DC Shane Bowen hired to same role

So hard to know how much was Bowen and how much was Vrabel.

It was a lot of bend but don't break defense. Normally allow a lot of yards to a frustrating point.

Then they'd toughen up to only allow a FG.

It might have been more personnel but we always allowed a crucial 3rd down.

We could have won 3-4 more games if not for game breaking plays given up on defense.

No hate for Bowen here. Just not sure what he was doing.

Worth factoring in how much injuries played in to these past two seasons too. The amount of UDFAs and street FAs we had to play in the secondary was astounding, you could argue to the point that what Bowen/Vrabel/whoever you want to give credit to deserves a ton of praise for how well the defense generally performed.

Maybe the biggest accolade Bowen holds is how good our defense was at stopping the Chiefs and Shanahan/Shanahan disciple offenses in the league. Which made it frustrating at times how some of the lesser offenses would burn us at times, but that's the league for you I guess.

This is a very ho hum hire imho. He doesn't move the needle for me whatsoever. But....statistically... it looks like his defenses are super strong against the run...so there is that. Maybe he won't drop Kayvon in coverage 30% of his snaps?... trying to see the big picture here... but it's bleak man... it's bleak.
