vike daddy
Byron Murphy, Jr., may only be listed at 5-foot-11, but he went up and got one early in Thursday's practice. Murphy showcased an elite jumping ability as he snared a Sam Darnold pass down the middle of the field that was intended for 6-foot-5 Josh Oliver. The cornerback caught the pass cleanly and maintained it as he went to the ground. Later in practice, safety Theo Jackson also recorded an interception over the middle of the field. Jackson nabbed a pass by J.J. McCarthy in a third-and-goal scenario. In addition to the two undisputed INTs, Blake Cashman made his case for an interception when he got his hands in on a pass that appeared to be initially secured by running back Aaron Jones. The contested catch, whether an interception or touchdown, was one of the odder and more impressive plays of the offseason. Cashman also flashed on a blitz during the 11-on-11 period, streaking through for what would have been a sack of Nick Mullens. https://www.vikings.com/news/defensive-picks-ode-to-jefferson-minicamp-2024 Edited June 7 by vike daddy
vike daddy
The Vikings implemented circuit drills designed to help defensive players take footballs away from opponents. Three groups rotated through three drills. One drill guided players through a series of three attempts at forcing fumbles, with a poke, a down swipe and a punch up. There also was a drill that had linebackers and defensive backs make interceptions through traffic. It was modified for defensive linemen to get their hands up at the line of scrimmage. The third drill involved having players react to tips to secure deflected footballs. https://www.vikings.com/news/defensive-picks-ode-to-jefferson-minicamp-2024

SteelKing728
There is hardly any depth at all at WR so he should still make the roster.

vike daddy
Alec Lewis @alec_lewis Robert Tonyan has looked great in minicamp. No hyperbole. Catching everything, snagged multiple passes in red-zone period today, outstretched arms, toe-tapping in corner of the end zone. Just impressive.
vike daddy
Jefferson jawed with Shaquill Griffin after an incompletion Thursday in a seven-on-seven rep. Griffin seemed amused by the conversation. He’ll likely pay for the back and forth in training camp, but his confidence is unmistakable. Josh Metellus: “It almost gives me that same feeling as Patrick Peterson when he came into the building. He’s a guy who has seen a lot of football, and he’s giving us tidbits, especially the young guys in the corner room. You’ve got a guy in Byron who has been primarily inside his whole career. Now you’ve got a guy in Shaq who has been primarily outside. So, you get the best of both worlds in that room.” https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5547122/2024/06/07/vikings-minicamp-jj-mccarthy-sam-darnold/
vike daddy
Alec Lewis, The Athletic: “Addison was one of the standouts at OTAs. He has a talent like Jefferson, in that he is deceptively fast, peeling out of routes without false steps or a loss of speed. Enhanced knowledge of O’Connell’s system should allow him to confound defenses further. He and Jefferson will be on the minds of every opposing DC.”
vike daddy
Youth were at the forefront — and at the sides — of Wednesday's Organized Team Activity practice. The final session of the 2024 offseason program featured a focus on younger players with three or fewer accrued NFL seasons hitting the field a week after Vikings Head Coach Kevin O'Connell sent veterans home a week early. While players generally referred to as part of the developmental squad participated in position drills, coaches' children (8 and older was the age requirement) watched their fathers and played football games off to the side. It was a cool jumpstart for Fathers' Day. The session was held inside the Indoor Practice Facility because of rain. It included some work in 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 periods, as well as some punting and kicking. https://www.vikings.com/news/youth-movement-offseason-2024-ota-practice
vike daddy
Josh McCown have both been working primarily with Sam Darnold on the field and getting him up to speed as their QB1 throughout the off-season program so far. It’s unclear how much time they’re spending with McCarthy off the field, and they were able to spend more time with him during this last round of OTAs for just the younger players and in rookie minicamp, but clearly their focus so far has been on getting Darnold ready to play week one rather than on McCarthy’s early development. https://www.dailynorseman.com/2024/6/14/24177343/when-will-jj-mccarthy-be-ready-to-start-and-when-should-he?
