You can see the Heisman voting outside of the top 5?

It said player of the year, I assumed it was the same thing but maybe I'm wrong. The same guy who won the Heisman was listed as the winner as well.

Year 3 Playoffs

KlK3EJ5.png

This game was ridiculous. Tennessee has some stupidly overpowered home field advantage mechanic where the opposing teams entire offense starts the beginning of the game and beginning of the 3rd quarter "cold". Meaning my players were completely missing their passes, missing blocks, dropping passes, committing penalties and more. The defense actually held up decently in the first half before it got out of hand. Obviously I was outgunned in this game and need to continue building up the roster to compete in the playoffs (also earning homefield advantage would be huge for future playoff games).

COACHING CAROUSEL

I got offered the HC job at Penn State, Notre Dame and West Virginia but I plan on staying with Kent State till they're a national title winner.

I still don't understand how or when I can fire my coordinators? I guess I'm stuck with them.

- QB Turbin's yards were down some from the previous starter. He had the same TDs and similar INTs though.

- HB Miree had more rushing yards than the previous starter so there was no dropoff.

- WR McCray had an all time great year. Replacing him is going to be very difficult he received a ton of my targets.

- TE Muamba continues to be a beast. His yards were down a little but he had over double the TDs from the previous year.

- The oline really struggled, I allowed only 25 sacks the previous year.  A lot of that had to do with me trying to scramble when I shouldn't have though.

- Freshman EDGE Gallon rebounded and ended up being the sack leader on the team with 7.5. That is not great as a team, but for a true Freshman it is very promising. DL Duff looks promising as well.

- CB Boamah led the team with 4 INTs. No one on the team last year had more than 2.

- There's nothing wrong with the offense other than throwing too many INTs.

- The defense is still bad. I need a lot of new talent on that side of the ball. I'm especially bad a stopping the run. Worst in the nation in rush yards allowed.

NATIONAL SIGNING DAY - YEAR 3

- I finished with the 15th best recruiting class in the country last year as well. This time I'm 6th in the conference, last year 5th. Huge rebound considering how bad this class was going heading into offseason recruiting.

TRANSFERS

#17 - 4 STAR - DE Jaxon Howard - moved to LOLB

xxXMgfZ.png

- Finding an edge rusher to start across from Gallon was one of my primary focuses heading into this recruiting season. Unfortunately I pretty much completely struck out early on but was able to grab so top end transfers to fill that role. Jaxon Howard was the top Transfer of any position in the portal, and is the 17th top recruit in the whole class. Howard isn't a physical freak, only 79 SPD, 86 ACC but his skills are top notch with 85 PM and 90 TKL. He will contribute as an EDGE playing OLB in 3-4 base lineup and DE in nickel. Either he or fellow EDGE transfer Forte will start, I haven't decided who yet. Moving him from DE to OLB changed his OVR from 85 to 83 OVR.

#18 - 4 STAR - RG John Carden

LzSAxGB.png

- An upgrade at RG was another big need. Carden was a huge get for me in the portal. He's only a Sophomore so he can start for 3 years for me and he's already a beast. 91 STR, 89 RB, 88 RBP, 96 PBP, he will be mauling defenders all game. He should start immediately. He has Impact Dev trait which means he should develop into a high OVR player before he leaves. Maybe he will get some draft interest? I need to get more players drafted in order to raise my Pro Potential rating.

#57 - 4 STAR - DE Terrance Forte - Moved to LOLB

tyaq6P5.png

- Forte is another EDGE I grabbed in the portal who should be able to contribute immediately. He has 83 SPD, 80 ACC, not amazing but not bad but 91 PM with 85 STR is impressive. He's also a Sophomore, so he can play for me a lot longer than Howard can. He has Impact Dev trait so he should develop into a monster. I'm leaning towards starting him over Howard.

NATIONAL SIGNING DAY CONTINUED - HIGH SCHOOL RECRUITS - YEAR 3

#29 - 5 STAR - FS Kahlil Kaesviharn - Moved to SS

n0ewQJX.png

- I was hoping Kaesviharn could start right away but he's more raw than I hoped. He does have Impact dev though so he should develop into a beast. I want him to start a SS but move to coverage linebacker in nickel packages. I think that will be his best role at 6'2" 222 lbs with 87 SPD and 87 ACC. He will Redshirt this season than start in that role next year.

#41 - 4 STAR - MLB Desmond Koroma

23LxOhY.png

- Linebacker talent has been really lacking on my roster and was a big point of emphasis in this recruiting cycle. Both edge rushers and coverage MLBs. Koroma should help with the latter. He's small, only 6'1" 228 lbs, but has 88 SPD, 91 ACC. At 75 he will likely be my 2nd best MLB behind Hess this year. I had OLB Studio playing that role last year, and Studio is back for another season. So I'll have to decide whether I want to start Koroma's journey immediately this year or Reshirt him. With normal dev he may not ever be a superstar but I expect him to be a solid contributor for years.

#78 - 4 STAR - QB Warren Frantz

eu1B4wW.png

- I wanted to groom a solid backup behind Turbin and Frantz should be that. He has 95 throw power, 87 SPD and 89 ACC. Not quite the stud Turbin is but he's pretty good. He has Star dev so he should develop quite a bit too. I have QB Sherrod returning for 1 more season so I can Redshirt Frantz for the year then he will become the primary backup at QB.

Oh and I'll note that I signed 6 total recruits within the top 100 this season, and I only had that many within the past 2 classes combine. Pretty sweet.

#141 - 4 STAR - WR Ricky Schilens

O0GBvAB.png

- At 6'5" 213 Schilens will be tied with French as the biggest WR on my roster. 93 SPD, 89 ACC, pretty impressive for his size. At only 74 OVR, I don't see him contributing this year when I have Lincoln, Hape, Queen and French all likely ahead of him on the depth chart. So he will Redshirt this year and likely take Queen's spot when he graduates next year.

#152 - 4 STAR - ATH Joe Word - Moved to LOLB

BzmT2fa.png

- Word is a 6'6" 252 ATH who is a 73 OVR Possession TE or 74 OVR Run Stopper OLB. He isn't going to play at either one of those positions this season, but I think his size is really impressive at OLB plus recruiting TEs has been really easy so far. He has 88 SPD, 83 ACC, 85 AG and 79 STR, all of that will stand out at OLB. He has Star dev so I'm hoping he can develop for a few years then take over as a starter on EDGE when Forte and Gallon graduate. He will likely join the rotation next season as the primary backup on Edge after Howard graduates. He will Redshirt this season.

#179 - 4 STAR - RG Miles Denton - Moved to OC

naPJ3mF.png

- Denton is slightly undersized at 6'4" 291 lbs so I moved him to Center. He has 89 STR, 79 RB and 81 RBP so he should end up having great push in the run game one he's developed. He's another player with Impact Dev that I landed in this class so he should end up being a complete stud. Moving him from Guard to Center lowered his OVR from 74 to 72, but after Redshirting a year and with his dev trait I hope he's pushing the low 90s by his Senior year.

#224 - 4 STAR - RG Brian Jerman - Moved to LG

LkmL4Hb.png

- Jerman is another 4 star Impact dev interior Olineman I was able to grab in this class. That is huge because Jerman and Denton will be able to develop while LG Kowalski and Leonhardt start for a few years, then when they come in there should be no dropoff in play. Jerman is an Agile archetype so he's a little more raw than Denton, but he's a beast athletically. 90 STR, 76 RB, only 68 PB.

Also 4 stars or better, including transfers, I landed 10 of them in this class. Last year I had 12. But I definitely feel like the top end of this class is higher quality, while last year's class was deeper.

#466 - 3 STAR - RE Sateki Lapuaho

NXd62hb.png

- At 6'0" 279 lbs, Lapauho will stay at DE in my base defense. He has 76 SPD, 86 ACC, 79 FM and Star Dev trait. I think he can also contribute snaps at DT in nickel sets. He's pretty raw, only 66 OVR so he will Redshirt this year. I'm pulling pretty high end recruits at this point so not sure if he will ever start but he should contribute to the rotation and will be valuable as a versatile backup that can play multiple positions.

#467 - 3 STAR - TE Theo Uzomah

dXppqiy.png

- I always seem to land TEs will little effort. I put little to no resources into recruiting Uzomah but he signed anyways. He only has Normal dev trait and he's pretty average so he's likely a career backup. Definitely Redshirting.

#483 - 3 STAR - CB Rhett Weaver JUCO (SO)

OkVWvR1.png

- My biggest failure of this recruiting cycle was my inability to grab a top end CB. The position continues to be a problem for me. I targeted several early on but missed out on all of them. So I pivoted to some JUCOs who may be able to help out sooner than later. Weaver is solid, he has 92 SPD, 85 ACC 83 AG with 78 MC. Some of the other CBs I recruited previously are seriously slow so Weaver won't Redshirt, he will provide depth immediately at the position. He has Star Dev so hopefully he progresses well during his time here.

#527 - 3 STAR - ROLB CJ Watford

Wikg7ev.png

- I just started grabbing linebackers because my depth has been so bad at the position, but Watford is pretty mediocre. I signed him before the high end Transfers joined so I was getting desperate. He only has 77 SPD, 82 ACC at 6'4" 242 lbs. He's more of a power rusher so hopefully that speed won't be a death sentence but I don't want him running around in space at that snail's pace. He doe have Impact Dev trait which may save him so let's see how he develops. Definitely Redshirting.

#533 - 3 STAR - ATH Ahmad Moultrie - Moved to LE

c8rDh2I.png

- He's 6'2" 294 lbs so his options were basically interior Oline, DT or DE. He's a 71 OVR DE, 67 OVR DT and can't block at all, he's 36 OVR at Guard. So I stuck him at DE where he can contribute depth there. He's Normal Dev so he's probably a career backup. He has 77 SPD, 80 ACC and 91 STR. Redshirting.

#547 - 3 STAR - ATH Tony Peters - Moved to WR

I399BLu.png

- Peters is either a Safety (67) or WR (64). I just stuck him at WR for now. He has 89 SPD and 89 ACC, and with Normal Dev trait he likely a career backup and possible cut candidate down the road. For now, he's Redshirting.

#617 - 3 STAR - LOLB Isaac Deossie

UGJGC5N.png

- Deossie is a Run Stopper so he isn't a perfect scheme fit as a 3-4 OLB. He has solid size at 6'4" 221 lb and has Impact Dev trait though so he's worth keeping around. His 82 SPD, 82 ACC are solid for an EDGE. He's definitely Redshirting, if he can learn pass rushing moves maybe he sees the field more in later years, otherwise he's probably a career backup.

#635 - 3 STAR - MLB Deveon Blough

bER23s1.png

- Blough is another good linebacker signing, I went nuts with the linebackers because I hated most of my current ones. He's a 6'2" 242 lb Field General archetype with Star Dev. 87 SPD, 85 ACC, he should develop into a solid 3-4 MLB. Definitely Redshirting.

#659 - 3 STAR - HB Nick Jordan

mwQFv2D.png

- If the lack of high end CB talent was my top regret this recruiting cycle the second biggest was not getting a high end Power Back to spell Miree. I liked Douglas when he would come in and be a bruiser for a series but he's gone now. I literally signed Jordan because I have to have another HB to fill out the roster. I struck out on all other HBs in this cycle. He's about as mediocre as it gets, 87 SPD, 87 ACC with Normal Dev trait. He may or may not Redshirt, it really doesn't matter I hope to replace him on the roster next year and he's a future cut candidate.

#719 - 3 STAR - ATH Deandre Slack - Moved to LG

Ly2I1XU.png

- Slack is 6'3" 303 lbs and he'd be 64 OVR at both Guard and DE. I put him at Guard. He has Normal Dev trait and at that OVR he's probably a career backup. He has 88 STR, 80 LB and 87 IB so he has upside as a backup. He's just really raw. Definitely Redshirting.

#842 - 3 STAR - RG Brendan Ateman

5gLKIlN.png

- Ateman is more great depth. Star Dev trait at 6'5" 334 lbs, he has 91 STR 75 LB and 78 IB. His RB sucks right now, only 66 so he's super raw. Redshirting, probably career backup.

#1118 - 3 STAR - ATH Denard Stoneburner - Moved to ROLB

OkD8hut.png

- At 6'3" 231 lbs I was hoping Stoneburner could be a super sized power RB but he's terrible there (36 OVR). He's basically a Linebacker, Safety or DE. He does have 89 SPD, 88 ACC and 76 FM, so he could give me a Speed Rusher off the edge which I don't really have. Unfortunately he's only Normal Dev so he will likely never be a star. Probably Redshirting but I'm hoping he can join the rotation next year.

#1144 - 3 STAR - HB Tyreke Pope

whD1dYN.png

- He's exactly like Nick Jordan but somehow slightly worse. He's not long for the roster.

Final 3

S5Y9SZY.png

ZNqOVXs.png

pCZy12U.png

These are the final 3 recruits, all 3 are bottom of the depth chart backups. OLB Gado is yet another Impact Dev recruit I signed in this class. If you count the transfers I added 8 of them. CB De La Puente is only 5'9" but he has 95 SPD with Star Dev. OLB Ricci is pretty mediocre with Normal dev, he's a possible cut candidate.

- Generally speaking I would say that I'm disappointed with the progression on the players on the team.

- Turbin returns as the starter at QB, he was a 75 OVR last year. Sherrod remains the primary backup this season. Frantz will Redshirt.

- Miree returns for his second season at RB. His progression was one of the biggest on the team, he was only a 73 OVR last year. Payne Redshirted last year but will be the primary backup this year.

- The WR progression was disappointing. Lincoln is supposed to be Star dev but he only went up 2 OVR. Etheridge was a bottom of the roster guy last year and KR but now is somehow my top OVR WR. Despite what the OVRs look like I still expect Lincoln, Hape and Queen to be my top 3 WRs on the depth chart. Schilens will Redshirt.

- TE remains unchanged. Muamba has been All American back to back years but only went up 2 OVR. That seems stupid to me. It's annoying because he's probably going to go undrafted when he graduates.

- LT Windt was one of my big risers which is great because I really needed him to step up. He was only 74 OVR last year but is now 81. I was going to be in a bind if he wasn't ready.

- LG Kozlowski jumped from 76 OVR to 83. He was in my first recruiting class and is a good starter for me.

- OC Clayton Leonhardt was my very first recruit signed in the first season and now he will finally see the field. He was 78 OVR last year now he's 82 OVR. His backup Shelby really jumped he was only 72 last year and now he's 79 OVR. Shelby will probably act as a backup across several positions on the line.

- Transfer Carden will slot in as the new starter at RG.

- RT Weir was a 77 OVR last year and is now 84 OVR.  I'm hoping he continues to progress to the point where he might get drafted.

- Duff will start at LE again, and move inside to DT on nickel sets. I thought he might progress more but he only went from a 75 to a 79. Although Lonnie Griffin has a similar OVR, he's incredibly slow with only 67 SPD. Griffin will never start.

- After redshirting last year, RE Prince Ajayi will start at RE. He'll also get the first shot at the 2nd DT position in nickel. Unfortunately he only went from 75 OVR to 76.

- Nothing changes at NT. Shields only went from 76 to 79 OVR unfortunately.

- I think LOLB Forte will start at LOLB and move to DE in nickel. Studio has a high OVR, but Freshman MLB Koroma has similar coverage ratings so I think he will not start at MLB like he did last year. Studio will provide depth at MLB but not start. Senior Transfer Howard will be the primary rotational backup at EDGE.

- Freshman Koroma will start next to Hess. Hess is up to 77 OVR from 72 last year.

- ROLB Gallon went from 74 OVR to 83 this year, hell ya. I'm hoping he's the star of my defense this year. I have a bunch of guys redshirting at this position.

- CB Redman will play only in the slot as he has 88 SPD. Jamir Benjamin will be the #1 outside CB as he has 95 SPD 95 ACC. On the other side will be Joel Boamah. Then, I'll have AJ Heflin over all others as he has 94 SPD, 91 ACC. The rest aren't the best athletes.

- I'm going to start Simon Kowalski at FS as he's the best athlete of the group. Unfortunately he only went from 75 OVR to 76.

- 5 star recruit Kaesviharn will Redshirt. Williams is the returning starter, but I think I'm going to let Dakota Hill start after he jumped from 69 OVR to 79 OVR in one offseason.

It said player of the year, I assumed it was the same thing but maybe I'm wrong. The same guy who won the Heisman was listed as the winner as well.

Oh, got you.  I think the player of the year is the stand in for the Maxwell.  They probably are the same in this game though.  I can't recall seeing a different Hesiman winner than POY winner.  Haven't paid attention if the top 5's are always 1 for 1.
