vike daddy
For generations, the Bears’ calling card has been their defense. Even as they drafted quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick this year, that did not change on Sunday. With a blocked punt returned for a touchdown and a pick six, Chicago’s special teams and defense led the club to a 24-17 victory over Tennessee to open the 2024 season. Tennessee raced out to a 17-0 lead, with the team’s defense holding Chicago to just a field goal in the first half. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/special-teams-defense-power-bears-in-caleb-williams-debut-with-24-17-win
vike daddy
Josh Allen willed the Bills to a season-opening 34-28 victory over the Cardinals on Sunday. The Bills defense held onto it. Kyler Murray got the Cardinals to the Bills 29, where they faced a fourth-and-seven, but his final pass fell incomplete at the 2 with 26 seconds left. Allen completed 18 of 23 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 39 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries. He lost a fumble on a strip-sack on the third play of the game but was money after that. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/josh-allen-throws-for-two-tds-runs-for-two-as-bills-hold-on-for-34-28-win

His final touchdown came on fourth down and gave the Texans a 29-20 lead with 4:42 left. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/joe-mixon-stefon-diggs-pay-dividends-for-texans-in-29-27-win-over-colts This is kind of how Diggs’ season was with the Bills last year. He’s lost that explosiveness. He’s an elite route runner and is a terror on the shorter routes and in goal to go situations.
SemperFeist
The NFL needs to stop scheduling divisional games in the first 2 weeks of the season. Given how sloppy things are the first few weeks of the season, I think it’s a disservice to have the inter division games early.
