Just like with baseball, need analytics AND just common sense.

Baseball was a wasteland of fundamentally non-competitive sports for decades lol, the ability for teams to design themselves and function within statistical incongruities and best chance probabilities has made the sport way better and way more competitive. What's killing baseball is ownership refusing to spend money, not the teams that do spend using it smartly.

I mean this is the same logic, though, you're not guaranteed the first down running the ball either, just like a kick isn't a guarantee of points. You make the most reasonable decision to win the game. The play worked, the ball was dropped, that happens.

I don’t want a first down I want to run the clock out.

the reasonable decision to win the game is running the clock out and giving Atlanta least amount of time as possible for a comeback. You likely get close enough for a tush push if you commit to a legit run there on a tired defense instead of a pass option.

Situational football. Theres more to it then a schematically drawn up playcall and winning in the moment

The Commanders did win the game. Get the win (no matter how ugly) and worry about not scoring touchdowns when you prepare for next week.

Yes, that's my point, good process doesn't magically guarantee good results, but you're not playing, or coaching, for one week. Developing this bad process is why they LOST the week before, if your offense is non-functional then you have to be more aggressive to make up the points you're losing in the aggregate.

You are right. She pegged you for a very bold guy. Pegged you for a really bold guy.

My mom is 60+ and i am happy she finally was able to satisfy that kink

Nah, according to her it was a better lay than your father ever gave her.

Yeah she pegged you for the best lay she ever had

I will grant you that.

It was an RPO, if Barkley wasn't so wide open Hurts just sits on it.

The RPO didn't work once for them tonight. They had lineman downfield penalties three times. They need to rip that page out of the playbook. That's a goofy college play anyway. I would rather see teams run the college style option.

Thank you!

And I'm not against going for it on 4th down, in certain situations.

But I see teams do stupid stuff like that in the 1st QTR. Lol

And then wonder how they lost by 2, when the game is over.

Brian Kelly coach for LSU, did this exact same thing vs USC the weekend before last.

And then wonder why they lost...

The RPO has been in pro football literally as long as the forward pass. It's literally just a read option.

Games don't end in the first quarter.

This will shock many.

But things continue to happen in a sporting event until the event is over.

That's also how the Lions lost the NFC title game. It should have been Detroit who lost the Super Bowl because practicing on a condemned high school field made them ripe for torn ACLs, which is why the 49ers lost the SB. (The NFL has to keep Pat Mahomes and Taylor Swift happy.)
