Thelonebillsfan
Jeff wants pieces when Sandy retires in the off-season so he can contend in 2018. The Mets continue to be ******* idiots with 0 direction, but at least it shouldn't be a whole lot.
NewAge
Merandy is borderline top 10 in the system but probably a reliever. Not a big fan of Cespedes.
Thelonebillsfan
Liked Merandy, Cespedes was a nothing prospect. Deal is a bit better but, we don't need to be leveraging assets for a 7th inning man in 2018.
NewAge
Merandy needs to be protected this winter. So this allows the Mets to keep someone like Adonis Uceta or Nabil Crismatt. Merandy will be a decent reliever down the line I think. 7th inning guy. Arguable plus fastball and curveball. Smallish frame, 0th percentile extension. This should also slightly boost the market for Addison Reed.
NewAge
The Marlins got more for Phelps than they did for Ramos.

Hernandez has the most upside of any of the prospects in the two deals, but there's no player from the M's package that is a guarantee to even make it to the big leagues. Gonzalez should at least get a look as a reliever at some point.

I'd prefer Gonzalez but I know some who think otherwise.
