So? It's not like the new HC can't just fire them and the colts eat their salary/ they mutually agree to part ways because of the McDaniels nonsense. Pretty sure the colts when they hire their new HC will ask each of them if they want to stay on.

I'm pretty sure the colts would let the assistants out of their contracts or the new HC would just straight up "fire" them because of what happened.

Colts fans should be happy, McDaniels has proven he's a terrible HC. Glad McDaniels did this now instead of wasting 2 seasons with the colts before getting canned.

I'm assuming it's going to stay as is, the redskins cannot afford to keep Cousins and Alex Smith if they want to be active in FA/ re-sign their players and no team is going to give up compensation for him without a long term deal in place. The redskins would be better off just letting him walk instead of screwing their cap situation just to try and get something from Cousins when most teams know they can't afford to keep him with Smith there, they'd have piss poor leverage and Cousins can just wait it out and say no to any trade.

That's not counting Alex Smith's contract which they'll get on the day the trade goes through, or the money they need to re-sign other FAs or just tender players... They could do it but that's 50+ million tied up in two QBs.

....The fact they need cap space to operate as a franchise, Cousins could immediately sign his tender and put them over the cap. They just committed a big contract to Alex Smith, to franchise Cousins would cost 25+ million ( I forget what the non exclusive tag price is) and they've clearly moved on from Cousins with this trade and are going to let him walk. That's the closest we've gotten to a true franchise QB hitting the market outside of Drew Brees coming off his shoulder Surgery, Franchise QBs never hit FA and cousins will be the first without a major injury concern and with youth and a solid season on his side, his earning potential is as much as he wants with teams desperate for QBs.

The last time a "franchise QB" hit the FA Market (I define franchise QB as proven franchise QB not some scrub who could be like Brock Lobster) was Peyton. In the prime of his career with the potential to be a top 10 QB and with teams desperate for a QB and the ridiculous contracts the bad QBs have gotten...Cousins will break 30 million easily.

Kirk is probably going to end up being the highest paid QB in NFL history for a few months until the next QB tops that contract.
