Earl Campbell.  He was probably the hardest runner in NFL history, but what a lot of people don't realize is that he was also very fast too.  He had it all.  Unfortunately, his career was cut short by playing on a field that was basically a cement floor with a thin layer of plastic astroturf on top of it.  He was a great player when he was in his prime, though.  I wish people on this board could see more of his game tape.  The guy was truly a monster.

OJ Simpson 1973, 2003 yards in 14 game season, if ever a player singlehandedly carried an entire team  that had to be it, The Bills QB highest yards passing in a single game was 169 the rest of the time it was usually under 100, OJ averaged 6.0 yards per carry and they knew he was getting the ball almost every play, last game they had 5 pass attempts and he still rushed for 200 yards. I know he's ruined his life now but he was unreal running with the ball. That season was undoubtedly his peak.

Eric Dickerson is imo the best HB of all time. Single season rushing record, most rushing yards as a rookie, most 1600 yard seasons with 4. Probably the best peak of any HB averaging 110 yards per game his first 6 seasons on some pretty bad teams. The only thing he didn't have was longevity past 29 years old.
