Reasons are Brady I think will play well in the playoffs and this defense reminds me of 2014-2016. I think NE will win the AFC. Super Bowl no idea but think we got a decent shot. Lose in AFCCG against either KC or SD I agree that we would be favoured to lose at KC but our pass rush and secondary could do enough to limit the number of scores the offence needs. I am a bit more hopeful that we could get the win over Los Angeles at home (I almost wrote San Diego too.)

AlNFL19
After looking at the analytics, I have some new answers (though I'm still good with my old ones): Team MVP Tom Brady New Answer: Tom Brady Brady's WAR this season was +1.81 (+1.54 passing*, +0.27 rushing), the best on the offense because he's the quarterback. *Passing WAR in this case is the WAR added by passes Brady threw - it doesn't separate him from his receivers or whatever, and rushing WAR doesn't separate him from his blockers or scheme or anything. Best Offensive Player Tom Brady New Answer: Brady See above. Brady wasn't up to his usual standards, but that's still damn good. Best Defensive Player Stephon Gilmore New Answer: Gilmore I haven't managed to find enough publicly-available numbers for defensive players to track their WAR, but Gilmore was a first-team AP All-Pro (and PFF All-Pro, as if that's worth anything). Coach (or assistant) of the Year Ivan Fears New Answer: Fears I'm very confident that Fears has been a big part of the team's rushing success this season, which would have only been better if Jeremy Hill didn't tear his ACL Week 1. Rookie of the Year Sony Michel New Answer: Michel and J.C. Jackson I'm going with a tie here. The analytics, or my model at least, didn't really like Michel's season too much, as it spat out a modest +0.25 WAR rushing and receiving (again, this doesn't separate from blockers, scheme, quarterback, other receivers, defensive mistakes, etc. - it's the WAR added on the plays he had the ball). I think this probably reflects the fact that like, half the long runs he had got called back for something. Jackson, on the other hand, is the No. 2 now in a legitimately championship secondary who gave up a passer rating of something like 42. FORTY-TWO. Player Who Surprised/Pleased You The Most Cordarrelle Patterson New Answer: Patterson The analytics backed up my original thought. The Patriots' WAR on Patterson's touches was +0.57, including a team-best +0.0168 WAR per target. That figure looks small, but it's insane. For reference, Edelman had a WAR of +0.003 per target, while Josh Gordon (leading WAR receiver) had +0.008 WAR per target. Patterson lapped the field, and he could be a huge key to playoff success. Most Disappointing Player Rob Gronkowski New Answer: Jacob Hollister Going with the other tight end now. I hoped Hollister would build on his experience this year as the young, athletic receiving TE2, but he really didn't. He caught four passes all season, for a WAR of +0.02. I expected so much more.
