Whole lot of people want the Packers to take an offensive skill position player in the first round, but it's very likely they will not.

Ron Wolf took over as GM of Green Bay in 1991, left after the 2001 draft.  His protegee was Ted Thompson who was GM from 2005 to 2017.  His protegee is Brian Gutekunst.  Wolf made 11 first round picks, 1 was an offensive skill position (Bubba Franks). Thompson made 12 first round picks, 1 was an offensive skill position player (Aaron Rodgers).  Gutekunst has made 1 first round pick, it was a Cornerback.  With this large of a sample size, this is most likely a philosophical thing.

If the Packers spend any first round picks on WRs, tight ends, or running backs (which history suggests they will not), it will almost certainly be the 2nd one.

Normally, yeah.

But you take what the draft gives you. And they have so neglected offense so many years, they have to. Also, it's the easiest way to put out this dumpster fire.

Shiny toys on D for years have gotten us nowhere. And they are so much better drafting offense anyways. A couple move downs and get the top talent for Arod. You wasted the last nine years. This is your last shot. Burns won't win the post season. There's better talent on D in later rounds after the swimsuit/Miss universe show is over.

And this "top 20" underwear talent has a high bust rate written all over it. Gonna disappoint.
