It's been unfortunately that way for a LONG time. The narrative that Wilt was dominated by Russell is statistically and factually inaccurate since Wilt's team lost all of those years to Boston, but it's been nonsensically spewed for a long time.

Playoffs

Player G W L GS MP FG FGA FG% FT FTA FT% TRB AST PF PTS
Bill Russell 49 29 20     5.9 14.0 .417 3.2 5.2 .609 24.7 4.9 3.9 14.9
Wilt Chamberlain 49 20 29     10.0 19.6 .508 5.8 11.8 .490 28.0 4.1 2.4 25.7

these rebounding numbers are insane. Its why I think the premerger stuff should be in a different category from post merger stats.

I don't disagree. However, all you hear about is "titles" and even how Russell is the "GOAT Rebounder". Even the pre merger statistics prove this is a false narrative. There's literally NOTHING aside from FT% and almost an assist per game that Russell was better at than Chamberlain.

its interesting that Harden and Durant are basically putting up the same numbers in this series. Durant is shooting slightly better and Durant is getting a few more free throw attempts. they have the same points scored on the same number of shots. Same rebounding average. Harden has slightly more assists and steals. Durant has more blocks. Harden has 1 more turnover.

yet the narrative is that Harden is choking and Durant is dominating.

Harden is shooting 38.3% on 23.5 FGA. Durant is shooting 42.6% on the same number. That's not really "slightly" better. League average FG% is 46% this year. If you can't figure it out...well...again, I'm not surprised.

hes made 2 more shots on the same number of attempts....thats slightly better. Thats the difference between him missing one more and harden making one more.

math.....

38% is **** shooting. Over 40% is less ****.

In regards to the Harden vs Durant portion of the argument...Durant gets the benefit of the doubt because he's done it all before. Harden hasn't. Harden's doing what he typically does in the playoffs. If you can't grasp that...

since when do you have to do anything in the playoffs to be recognized? Your boy just won his first playoff series and has been crowned the new Lebron

Because my boy is 24 years old. Not some 29 year old player with a long history of piss poor shooting in the playoffs.
