2019 NBA Finals - (1) Golden State Warriors vs (2) Toronto Raptors (TOR leads 3-2)

The crazy part is how the Dubs unravelled the last 4-5 mins in a back and forth game.   The wild shot attempts, the last TO which let the Raps run out the clock.  Meanwhile, TOR ran their O and hit big shots as the clock ran down.   That was literally the best 3Q they could have asked for after a nightmare 1H.

The Dubs have at least 1 big run, bank on it.   Leonard needs at least 2-3, and ideally 4+ mins of rest right now.   Can TOR play without him and keep it at 8-10 pts up, like they did in Game 3?   The Dubs have way more options tonight, with Klay on fire, and Looney helping out.   Cook was a total zero that 3Q, it was nuts that Kerr kept him out there that long.  Nurse's decision to switch to zone+1 and keep both Ibaka and Gasol, which is totally against the book to play GS, that was amazing to see.

It's rare to say Kerr got outcoached, but Nurse clearly had a higher level of adjustment.  Let's see what the Dubs do to adjust.  There's another run coming, bank on it.

But if Vanvleet can start hitting shots like that....well, that's a good start.  Klay with the reply.

Um, how do you call a 3-sec violation with Ibaka holding possession?   But now it's GS's turn to miss open 3's, Iguadala and Curry BOTH.  Wow.  Bullet dodged there for TOR.

Well TOR got 2.5 minutes without Lowry and Leonard, but the drop in O really has Nurse calling Kawhi and Lowry back into the game.  Can't argue that call.

Vanvleet with the nasty cut.   This is a huge sequence here.  While it's unintentional, nasty elbow there.

Siakam sucks.

His game is entirely based on transition, mismatches and open looks.  When he's in rhythm, he's such a problem.  But as a guy to create his own O, especially in halfcourt, he's just not a natural scorer.    Game 1 gets a ton of accolades and rightfully so, but ppl miss how much transition helped him - he had 10 or more points off transition / big mismatches, and then he got on a roll.   Halfcourt O play as a guy to create his own O is not his forte, though.

I will say though that Siakam's D on Curry on the perimeter has been fantastic.   He's really caused trouble there.   So there's that.  That's what he brings - even when he's not great on O, he provides that D and threat of transition mismatches.   Deserves the Most Improved POTY for sure given what he was last year.
