A few ideas the NFL should consider for Washington

Brothers I hope you all enjoyed quality time with family, friends and are all starting your diets today as you don’t want to start looking like this

but this is a serious post. The indigenous peoples we honor with our team name have gained creativity and enlightenment from gathering together in a “Sweat Lodge” and some of their brothers in the Southwest from gathering Lophophoria Williamsii, no, not related to Trent Williams although wouldn’t be surprised if at one point they have met. My thoughts were tryptophan induced and here they are:

The Washington franchise is an embarrassment to the NFL. Having a post millennial generation   ( coincides with Snyder) perennial loser in our nation’s capital is bad for the NFL. At some point these people will take the reins on power in Washington. Washington has been the golden goose for the NFL that has fueled millionaires becoming billionaires using taxpayer money for stadiums, minimizing taxes due on their operating profits and maintaining absurd antitrust policy where the NFL claims they aren’t a monopoly, rather they just Choose to equally share largest revenue source  (broadcast).

The NFL needs to fix the Snyderskin problem. They also want to expand. And they are always focused on the Benjamins. Having a strong team in Washington helps them in so many ways. It keeps support of the nations lawmakers, gives them a positive feeling about the nfl, the bureaucrats administering antitrust and tax policy live in this area and would like this, and there are people here who would pay more than a billion for a new team right now. And those millennials who will be the future power brokers and seem more predisposed to socialism could just nationalize the NFL in the future unless they can be sold the NFL Dream that so many have today on the value of the league to the people, their local governments and to the country. What is to become of the team owners? Modern day Duke Brothers?

Giving these future leaders a success in Washington and a little peice of good ole capitalism $ is a good investment and the time is right. Has AOC been invited to Snyder’s box? Do that too 😂

But seriously, here are three potential solutions to the NFL’s Washington SnyderSkin problem.

1. Expand into the Montreal and London markets. Move the SnyderSkins to Montreal         ( positioning it as reparations ( millennials like this term) for stealing the Expos) rather than creating two new expansion teams outside the core US market. Provide Washington with the second expansion team with a new ownership group. Who knows, you might be able to create a Washington London rivalry. Lots of money in DC and you could sell the expansion rights in Washington for a greater value than any existing franchise including the Cowboys. This gives Washington a chance to be successful, gets rid of the Snyder problem by outsourcing it to Canada and makes these other nfl billionaires even richer. It also repairs and builds important relationships with the next generation of power brokers in the Washington swamp

2. NY has two teams, LA has two teams, why not two teams in Washington to share a new stadium in view of the nation’s Capital? Create a second Washington team for expansion. Washington is a football town and could easily support an expansion team. Two teams makes it much easier for politicians to justify giving hard earned money of the working class to subsidize billionaire owners getting even richer by building a publicly financed stadium. You might have to spread a very small portion of that expansion fee to some politicians to get a stadium, but you already have known they are bought very cheaply. With a few dollars they’d support putting a stadium on federal land between the Capitol and Monument and you don’t have to worry about the DC govt.  What’s the worst case? One team is being supported by fans? Give it a few years, get your stadium paid for, get at least a billion in expansion fees to spread around to the other owners. And if it isn’t working in a few years simply move the Snyder team to another area, Portland, Austin, Albuquerque, Mexico City etc.

3. You could take the team from Snyder but options 1 and 2 are better as they avoid messy entanglements. Lawsuits, messy financial disclosures, etc.. Very important to avoid having the working man and women (and even those that aren’t quite sure which ones they are today) lose the distraction of caring about Washington football and then realizing that they, the fans, care more about winning than the owners- who win no matter how the team performs.

ok brothers, time to crash

I'm sorry you put so much effort into this, I commend you for a greet write up that like usually was factual, sarcastic, creative, witty and actually made a lot of common sense.

That being said, as I've said in the weekly threads other people have written on how to get rid of Snyder, it ain't happening. Owners aren't forced to sell unless they do something egregious publicly and even Bob Kraft who just did hasn't been forced to sell the Patriots.

As far as expansion in Washington goes the League won't do that to the Redskins or Ravens either. The market is cornered in the DMV, Baltimore and Delaware - where it's Ravens & Philly fans - too.

Also, DC does have two other pro football teams. The DC Valor and starting Feb 8, 2020 the DC Defenders of the XFL.

Except the AFL ceased operations after this past season, declaring bankruptcy, which means the Valor are no more. Also, it is reasonably likely that this time next year the DC Defenders will also be seen in the rear view mirror.
