RB Jerick McKinnon and the #49ers agree to a restructured contract

I am surprised we wouldn't have kept 2m on the books for next season and brought his cap figure down to 2.9m or 3.2m with the roster bonuses. that savings would roll over into next season and would pay for itself, so I really don't see a reason we didn't do this. The only thing I can think of is that it would somehow mess with the comp pick formula when he leaves, and if that's the case then its definitely worth paying an additional 2m now.

Having a (n over-) crowded backfield right now and for a while is A-okay with me. You never know when.... well, just leave it at that.
